Home court advantage is a big deal, usually. Out of the "big four" sports, the National Basketball Association has the highest home court/field/ice win percentage. But for some reason, this postseason hasn't got the memo. Home teams just aren't winning as much as they usually do.

Through 30 playoff games, the home team is a disappointing 14-16. West teams are 7-8 at home, as well as East teams.

The most obvious series is the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers. The home team is 1-3, with the Trail Blazers winning game four at home in overtime. Another glaringly obvious series is the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards where the home team is again 1-3. The Wizards won game four in Washington, breaking the three-game home losing streak.

The only series in the NBA that has the home team with a winning record is the Miami Heat and Charlotte Bobcats. The Heat are 2-0 in Miami, to nobody's surprise. The Heat will probably win game four in Charlotte.

The No. 1 seed in the East, the Indiana Pacers, are taking on the Atlanta Hawks and the home team is 2-2. The Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors series is tied at 2-2, with the home team also 2-2, despite the fact that two games have been played in Canada. The Western Conference teams are also 7-8 so far at home. The Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs series is the only series in the West that features a home team with a winning record, at 2-1. In the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder series, there have been three overtime games. The home team has won two of those games.

There have been many overtime games played this postseason so far. Home teams are 2-5 in the seven overtime games played.

The regular season is important because teams fight for the best record and highest seed. It's surprising to see so many games being lost at home and won on the road. Sometimes the deciding factor when picking a game is where it's located, Apparently, that's not the case this postseason.

The Thunder and Spurs have been a surprise as the top two seeds in the West, but neither have a winning record at home. The first round of the playoffs still needs to be completed and there's still three more rounds after that. It's very unlikely that the home team will finish with a losing record, but you never know.
