Uh-oh! Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was recently mortified after "Today" host Savannah Guthrie asked her about her "ugly feet." During her cringe-worthy interview on Wednesday, Feb. 10, the Latina beauty denied that she has "horrible hooves" on live TV.

A television interview suddenly took an awkward turn after Guthrie chose to mention that Cruz had once spoken in the past about having aesthetically displeasing toes, a comment the actress apparently didn't say, Daily Mail noted.

"I don't even know how I feel about this, I think you said it, that you, despite what you look like... you've said you have ugly feet," Guthrie said, in which Cruz, who was obviously taken aback, responded, "No, no, no I haven't said that. No, no, no. I'm okay. I'm okay with my feet."

After realizing that she might have offended the "Zoolander 2" star, Guthrie explained that she thought that was the case since Cruz was a dancer. In fact, the 41-year-old wife of Javier Bardem has studied classical ballet for nine years at Spain's National Conservatory.

"When you're a ballet dancer, you lose your toenails," she explained. "You get used to throwing them away. You don't even feel it anymore."

And when Guthrie called her feet "pretty," Cruz elucidated that she doesn't know if they're indeed "pretty," instead said her feet are "normal," Hollywood Life reported.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain which foot-related story Guthrie was referring to. But according to Sydney Morning Herald, the host was probably making reference to a 2012 Daily Mail article on celebrities' feet.

The publication added that Cruz was mentioned to have "toe curling tootsies," along with several other female celebrities. The said article even quoted British podiatric surgeon Jason Nandlal, who described Cruz's toes as "deformed" and needed to be "surgically re-aligned."

Cruz did not comment on the article nor did she mention her feet in any previous interviews. But in spite of the awkward moment, Cruz maintained her cool. In fact, she even wore a pair of open-toed pumps during her appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" later that evening.

Penelope Cruz's "Today" show appearance was part of the promotional stint for her upcoming movie, "Zoolander 2," which also starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. According to the actress, she is playing the role of an Interpol special agent who teams up with supermodel Derek (Stiller).

As a team, they will try to uncover the reason why the world's most beautiful people are dying with his trademark "Blue Steel" expression on their faces.

"Zoolander 2" will hit the theaters in North America on Friday.
