Two of the brightest young quarterbacking talents in the NFL got married over the weekend, and what's more, they both did so with their college sweethearts. Robert Griffin III and Matt Barkley now both get to add "husband" to their already impressive list of accomplishments.

Earlier this year, Robert Griffin III finished what was considered by many to be one of the best, if not the best, campaign by a rookie quarterback in league history. Over the weekend he got married to longtime girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat.

"It was definitely more emotional than I was expecting," said William Mallow, a friend since junior high who was in the wedding party. "You could tell how much passion there is between them. It was definitely overwhelming, how much passion there was between them, and seeing the families getting along so well."

Many of Griffin's present and former teammates attended the wedding which was held in Denver Saturday night. The guests noted how diverse the event was, mirroring Griffin's own interracial marriage to Liddicoat.

"The best of America, that's how I felt," said boxing promoter Rock Newman, a friend of the Griffin family. "I just saw people, all ages, all ethnicities, all colors -- white, black, Hispanic, Asian -- really just enjoying each other. And I marveled at it. I just was filled with a sense of pride and optimism -- optimism, man -- because we live in fractured world. And that sense of any kind of division was not there."

Though his wedding received significantly less fanfare, Matt Barkley also got hitched over the weekend to his extremely longtime girlfriend Brittany Langdon. Though Barkley was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles this past April, the only thing that was on his mind this past weekend was a marriage that was literally decades in the making.

"Wedding Day! Beyond blessed, thankful and excited to marry the girl of my dreams and my best friend. Praise the Lord!" tweeted the newlywed groom Barkley.

Barkley and Langdon first met in nursery school and had held a crush for one another all the way through middle and high school, where they were finally allowed to start dating. After a long-distance relationship in college that saw Barkley run the show at USC while Langdon played soccer while attending Seattle Pacific University, iit appears their storybook romance has come full circle.
