At the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards show, which features the award ceremony's first-ever theme of "Billboard Duets," musical collaborations will be the focus.

According to Billboard, this year, aside from distributing awards, multiple artists will take the stage to perform their hits with fellow musicians or collaborators.

Notable duet performances at past Billboard award shows have included Carlos Vives with reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee and Wisin, Carlos Ponce with Ne-Yo, Juanes and Carlos Santana, Juan Luis Guerra and Romeo Santos, and Paulina Rubio's performance with special guest Wyclef Jean.

Chek out the collaborations we think could happen on April 28 when the 2016 Billboard Music Awards air on Telemundo.

J Balvin and Justin Bieber

Balvin was one of the biggest musical acts of 2015 with hits that included "Ay Vamos" and "Ginza." But if added to the list performers, he could surprise fans with an appearance from Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber.

Balvin is featured on the Latin remix of Bieber's hit song "Sorry," which the two performed at the 2016 Calibash concert in Los Angeles. Balvin is no stranger to performing with mainstream artists at award shows. He performed with Diplo and MØ at the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards.

Alvaro Soler and Jennifer Lopez

Soler's song "El Mismo Sol" was popular in Europe before getting radio airplay in the U.S. For its U.S. release, Soler added Lopez to the mix, which helped the single grow in popularity.

The two have performed the song together live, but have yet to do so at an award ceremony. At the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Lopez took the stage with Los Dinos and Chris Perez for a tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla.

Alternatively, Lopez also collaborated with Prince Royce and Pitbull this year on Royce's crossover hit "Back it Up." The trio could could take the stage to get the audiences pumped.

Maná and Shakira

The rock band and Colombian singer had one of the most popular duets this year with "Mi Verdad." The band performed the hit song at the 2015 Premio lo Nuestro Awards but without Shakira.

The singer had given birth to her second child with Gerard Pique two weeks prior to the award show and did not attend. However, the singer has since started working again and may be up for taking the stage with the band.

Pitbull, Robin Thicke, Joe Perry and Travis Barker

After the quartet had a show-stopping closing performance at the 2016 Grammys and Premio lo Nuestro 2016, it is likely Pitbull, Robin Thicke, Aerosmith's Joe Perry and drummer Travis Barker may reunite once more.

The four got together to perform Pitbull's new single "Bad Man," which features all three as guest artists. Pitbull is known for his many collaborations and performing live is no different.

Sofia Reyes and Prince Royce

Reyes is one of Latin music's rising stars, and Prince Royce is one of bachata's most popular artists who has also made a crossover into mainstream pop music. The two recently released their duet, "Solo Yo," off of Reyes' upcoming album.

The song is a ballad and shows off Royce and Reyes' vocal abilities. The single has yet to be performed live by the two stars. It would be a perfect addition to the lineup and would stand out among performances of older songs.
