We may not know exactly what's going on inside Zayn Malik's mind, but the former One Direction band member is releasing his first solo album titled "Mind of Mine" one year after he bolted out of the group, leaving millions of their followers crushed by grief.

Malik Releases First Solo Album

The newly-launched album includes the first single called "Pillow Talk," which already made it at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 and in the Official U.K. Singles Chart. Other songs from the album are "It's You," "She," "Drunk" and "Fool For You," among others.

On the same day, March 25, Malik decided to drop his first album and also release a new music video for "BeFour." The album, interestingly, will also include a track that is in Urdu, the language of Pakistan, where his father is from. The song is called "Flower" and runs less than a couple of minutes.

Simon Cowell Admits He Wasn't Sure if One Direction is Getting Back Together

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell shared his thoughts regarding the question on whether the group is staying together or will split for good. He said that he did not pry into the matter and hinted that the band members may not have the answer for now, either.

"I don't know if it's a hiatus or a breakup, to be honest," Cowell said. "In a weird way, I don't want to know. I don't think they've had enough time to experience what it's like not being in the group to really answer that."

The English producer and TV personality was very respectful of the band's decision to part ways for the meantime. He gave them the space they needed so as to avoid getting the boys worn out. He is also leaving it up to the boys to decide when they should get back as a group.

"Whenever I was with them, we talked about it, and I couldn't argue with them. They had achieved so much in a short period of time, and I didn't want them to get jaded. As I've gotten older, I've learned to trust people more, particularly artists. They'll decide when they want to come back together," he explained.

Malik's former bandmates were inclined to take a break and step out of the limelight for different reasons. For one, Louis Tomlinson is expecting his first child, while Niall Horan and Liam Payne are both looking forward to take some time off to rest and think about what's best for them moving forward. Harry Styles, on the one hand, is also interested in having a solo album of his own.
