Brazil and Peru will face off in a crucial Copa America 2016 matchup on Sunday.

Brazil dazzles against Haiti

The Selecao is coming off a tremendous 7-1 win against Haiti, a statement game if there ever was one.

While Haiti is certainly no team to marvel at, Brazil was coming off a poor performance against Ecuador in which they were nearly embarrassed at every turn. The Haiti game was expected to be a win for Brazil, but it was essential that Dunga's men put on a strong performance.

They passed that test with flying colors, scoring a whopping seven goals throughout the game, including three in the final 10 minutes of play.

The man of the match was Philippe Coutinho, scoring four goals in the entire game to take control of the Golden shoe award as of this moment. But what was more crucial to Brazil was that Coutinho became the team's main man. Without Neymar and Douglas Costa, he was expected to step up and lead the side; he failed in the opening game to take command of the role but he thrived in it on Wednesday.

He will need to show his quality once more against Peru in the final game. Unlike Haiti, the Peruvians are no pushovers and are very much battling for qualification to the next round.

Peru blows lead against Ecuador

Peru looked to build on its performance against Haiti, scoring two early goals against Ecuador. Shockingly, Paolo Guerrero was not among the goalscorers in the game but Christian Cueva and Edison Flores proved the difference makers in the game.

Unfortunately, Peru's defense could not keep things together, conceding two quick goals before and after halftime to strip Peru of the three points it seemingly had in its pocket.

Advancing Scenarios

Both teams have a chance to advance to the next round, but both need to put their best effort forward to make it happen. Peru needs a win, though it can still advance with a loss or draw. However that would be contingent on a draw or Haitian win in its game with Ecuador; both Brazil and Peru would advance in this scenario. A Peruvian win coupled with an Ecuadorian win would eliminate Brazil; an Ecuador win and a Brazil win would likewise eliminate Peru.

Player to Watch

Coutinho was the man of the hour in the game against Haiti, scoring four times and creating opportunities throughout the game. He will need to continue being this team's motor in the final group stage and beyond if Brazil is to finish atop the group.

History favors Brazil

Brazil has defeated Peru 30 times since 1936, losing one three games in that span and tying the remaining nine. Peru has not topped the Selecao since 1985 in an international friendly.

These two teams met a year ago in the group stage, a testy encounter that ended with a 2-1 win for Brazil. In a recent World Cup qualifier Brazil took a 3-0 win from Peru as well.

Prediction

Brazil finishes off the group stage with a solid 2-0 win.
