A suspect was shot dead by police in a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas on June 14 after they responded to calls of an armed man shooting inside the department store.

The Randall County's Sherriff's Office released a statement that revealed that the man, who has yet to be identified, had taken hostages inside the store around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

The suspect was shot and killed by a SWAT team and reportedly only fired one shot during the entire ordeal.

On their Twitter account, the Amarillo Police department revealed that no one was hurt from gunshot wounds and that everyone was safe.

The incident, which is still a developing story, occurred just two days after the Orlando shooting in a gay nightclub by suspected ISIS supporter Omar Mateen.

The massacre, with 50 lives lost and many others injured, is being called the worst mass shooting in the country's history.

President Obama, along with several celebrities and public figures, has spoken about establishing better methods of gun control and taking on terrorist groups, most recently after the Orlando shooting.

"We have to go after these terrorist organizations and hit them hard," he explained. "We have to counter extremism, but we also have to make sure that it's not easy for somebody who decides they want to harm people in this country to be able to obtain weapons to get at them."
