The Champion of the Copa America 2016 will be decided on Sunday. The Golden Ball, awarded to the tournament's top player, is already determined.

Lionel Messi, without any doubt, will receive the award, regardless of the outcome of the final game.

A tournament to remember

Unlike the 2014 World Cup, where favoritism one the day, or the 2015 Copa America, during which he refused to accept the reward, this tournament is without any doubt Messi's.

His performance to this point has been unrivaled by any player in the world. He scored three goals in 30 minutes against Panama and then had a cameo against Bolivia to close out the group round.

The knockouts have seen Messi at his very best however.

He scored against Venezuela, but his bigger contribution in that game was as provider, creating two assists in the match.

A performance for the ages

But the performance against the Americans was undeniably his best to date.

He scored one goal, and what a goal it was. A free kick to the far post that likely topped the free kick conversion he had against Panama earlier in the tournament.

But the assists are simply too good to overlook. The first was a glorious chip on the path of an open Ezequiel Lavezzi and the second a selfless pass to Gonzalo Higuain.

Stats overall

Messi has five goals and four assists through this tournament. He still trails Eduardo Vargas in the goals department, but no one is anywhere near Messi's assist total. The fact that Argentina is back in the final only accentuates his greatness to this Argentina team that has kicked it up a notch with him on the pitch.
