The Houston Texans will head into the 2014 NFL season with renewed hopes, but they will have to do it probably without veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson.

Recent reports indicated that the Texans, who recently named Jadeveon Clowney as the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, will likely trade Johnson after the 11-year veteran ranted about the Texans' current situation.

The Houston Chronicles reported that Johnson, who is already nearing the twilight of his NFL career, is not interested in spending the final years of his career with a team that is currently in rebuilding mode.

Johnson, who has been with the Texans since he was drafted by the team in 2003, admitted that he doubts whether or not Houston is still the best place for him at this stage of his career.

"Nobody's been here as long as I have. You just kind of look at things; I've been thinking about things this offseason. And I just kind of wonder sometimes, 'Is this still the place for me?'" said Johnson, who holds the team record for all-time receptions with 927 along with 12,261 receiving yards and 61 receiving touchdowns.

Aside from acquiring a promising prospect in Clowney, the Texans also named Bill O'Brien as the team's new coach, but Johnson believes that the team will not be a title contender this season after failing to acquire a proven starting quarterback or a big-name free agent this offseason.

"I just look at my career. I've only been to the playoffs twice," Johnson said. "I think we've only had three winning seasons. I don't think any player wants to experience that. I think over time it can become very frustrating. And this offseason has been very frustrating for me; beginning of the offseason, I should say."

Multiple reports indicated that Johnson will be interested in making a move to the New England Patriots, but WEEI's Christopher Price reported that a Johnson-to-Patriots trade will only be possible if the 32-year-old wide receiver agrees to rework his contract.

"Ultimately, the Patriots should be expected to at least inquire about the possibility of Johnson," Price wrote. "But unless the receiver is willing to re-work his contract -- or New England is able to move a lot of money around over the next couple of weeks -- it seems like a bit of a long shot, at least at this point"
