"The Vampire Diaries" will soon come to its conclusion with its last two episodes airing early next year. It was announced that the popular vampire TV series will end with season 8. However, there are rumors that there are plans of making a series spinoff that will be produced by Ian Somerhalder, his wife Nikki Reed and will star Nina Dobrev.

Will Ian Somerhalder Produce "The Vampire Diaries" Spinoff?

With "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 wrapping up soon next year, it seems that Ian Somerhalder may have plans of producing a new series of his own. According to Variety, Somerhalder has his new series signed under Warner Bros TV, the same company that produces "The Vampire Diaries." Furthermore, he will be joined by his wife Nikki Reed.

There have been several rumors that Somerhalder's new series could very well be a spinoff of "The Vampire Series." Additionally, there have been talks that Nina Dobrev may star in it too. However, none of this was confirmed as Somerhalder has not gotten into the details of his show by only stating that he wants to do "all kinds of shows" including comedy, drama, digital or even a spinoff.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale Details

As for the Finale of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, Somerhalder shared that he has no idea what will happen at the end of the series. He shares that he wants the Salvatore brothers to leave Mystic Falls in peace while Nina Dobrev's character Elena given a chance to be awake and without knowledge of the brothers.

Somerhalder's idea was agreed by Paul Wesley as well and thinks that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 should end with both brothers getting rid of their rings so the sun could burn them alive to never walk the earth again, News Everyday noted.
