"True Detective" is a police drama that has intrigued several homes since its inception on HBO, but the show will not be coming back any sooner. To ease up, here's the reason directly from the HBO programming executives, Casey Bloys, on why the "True Detective Season 3" will take more time to be released.

Without any much further ado, Bloys revealed that the delay of "True Detective Season 3" is because HBO opted to priotize the production of its much more popular TV show, that is the newborn "Westworld." Considering the complexity of the Artificial Intelligence-themed show, the production is quite demanding. As a result, HBO will be giving more time on working for the second season of "Westworld," reported Movie News Guide.

Furthermore, the dwindling viewership rating of "True Detective" is no secret. This could have been attributed to the decision of the network to prioritize "Westworld," which is probably one of the best TV shows of 2016 with its recognition in Golden Globe. Hopefully, people could retain their interest in the second season.

Likewise, Bloys offered that the writers are not finished with writing the scripts of "True Detective Season 3" yet. As such, the production of the show will resume once a go signal from the writers are given as HBO is reportedly gunning to have the two shows be released in 2018.

Considering that another hit-show of HBO, "Game of Thrones," will be having its last season in the next two years, the network probably is working on a strategy. The release date of "True Detectives Season 3" is yet to be announced.

Anticipating fans might also see the familiar faces of Colin Farrell and Matthew McConaughey as they expressed enthusiasm in joining the third season, reported GamenGuide. There is no confirmation yet, however, if they will actually be included in "True Detectives Season 3."

Written by Nic Pizzolatto, "True Detective" premiered on January 12, 2014. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
