A new year means new music. Good news for Ed Sheeran fans as the British performer just announced that he is ready to come back after a year hiatus. New materials will be coming on this Friday.

The 25-year-old singer posted a video on his Twitter, holding a paper with words" New music coming Friday". Then he put the paper in his mouth and dropped it, as reported by TheTelegraph. He even guaranteed fans that this upcoming album, which is his third, is the best he has made so far.

The news was also confirmed by songwriter Amy Wedge, who wrote one of Sheeran's hits "Thinking Out Loud". She said the album was done and will hit the internet when it is out.

Sheeran took a break from the entertainment spotlight for a year. He decided to do something that he missed, as the star said. Even he decided to stay away from his social media, emails, gadgets and so on to see the world in real with his eyes, not from the screens.

The"Photograph" singer traveled to Japan and socialized with local people there.

Then, before the video indicating his comeback was posted, he posted pics on Instagram and Twitter. This makes fans speculate that the start was working on his new materials.

Amid his temporary break, Sheeran still contributed to music by writing Christmas song "When Christmas Comes Around" for X factor winner Matt Terry called. He even performed at the National History Museum for East Anglia Children Hospices in December 2016.

There are reports that Sheeran will use the Grammy Award 2017 stage to mark his comeback, as TheSun said. Fans are hoping it will be true. An insider told the daily that Sheeran is one of the most in-demand performers on his upcoming album which is on the way.

Sheeran has released two studio albums. Among Sheeran's hits are "The A Team", "Lego House", "Kiss Me", "Photograph" and "Thinking Out Loud".
