Robert Redford is one of America'smost legendary actors and filmmakers. The artist currently runs the Sundance Film Festival and was recently seen in the critically acclaimed "All is Lost." Given his track record, it was actually quite surprising to see the veteran take on a role in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." However, Redford has revealed that no project is "beneath" him.

"One of the reasons that I did [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] was I wanted to experience this new form of filmmaking that's taken over where you have kind of cartoon characters brought to life through high technology," Redford revealed, according to IGN. "The Avengers series is a product of high technology playing a major role in the new order of filmmaking so I wanted to experience that -- I just wanted to know what that was like and I had that opportunity, so for me it was like stepping into new terrain just to experience what it was like."

The new superhero movie will be the first big Marvel release of 2014 and will be followed by "Guardians of the Galaxy" this August. "Captain America" stars Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Chris Evans, Emily VanCamp, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and Toby Jones. The film is slated for an April 4, 2014 release date. The first Captain America was released in 2011 and took home $176 million.

Will Robert Redford lead "The Winter Soldier" to a better box office than its predecessor?
