After a woeful summer, Manchester United manager David Moyes seems intent on making a splash in January. The team's interest in Juan Mata has been well documented, but it seems that Moyes has a few other targets in his sights. One of those is rumored to be Bayern Munich's Dante.

According to ESPN, the defender made a shocking comment regarding the English side's interest in him; the team has, however, not made any major attempts to buy the Brazilian defender.

"I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month," said Dante. "We have to wait until Jan. 31 because there is a lot going on."

Some believe that the statement was simply being used as a tactic to draw a response from Bayern Munich regarding Dante's contract talks.

The statement contradicts those of Dante's own Germany-based agent Marcus Marin. According to ESPN, Marin stated: "There is no way that is going to happen. He is not going to leave Bayern in the window ... At the moment, Bayern are the only people we have spoken to anyway because we are talking over a new contract.

"We are still waiting for an answer from them and, although things happen very quickly in football, until that situation changes, we cannot speak to anyone else anyway."

Moyes' summer window was fraught with failure as the new United manager attempted to lure the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Ander Herrera, Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini. Of the four targets, he wound up with Fellaini, who has been a failure for the club.
