Going further on the running humor about Microsoft being slow to the draw and deficient in apps with regards to its smartphone platform, it has just been reported that Minecraft: Pocket Edition is now heading to Windows 10 Mobile. Though being previously available on Windows Phone 8, Minecraft developer Mojang dropped its support for Microsoft's older mobile OS back in October of last year and has focused on the newer Windows 10 Mobile OS.

According to Tech Radar, Minecraft: Pocket Edition's arrival on Windows 10 Mobile now means that those who have upgraded will finally get their chance of catching up on major updates that they've missed out on ever since, including some new Achievements and support for Realms, texture packs, and add-ons.

The very popular brick-building game coming to Windows 10 Mobile may as well just be a formality at this point in time, with the game, as of the moment, already selling over 100 million copies and counting, and the handheld Pocket Edition and console ports outselling the PC original to a ratio of 2:1.

But with that said, it's still amusing to think that one of the latest OS systems to just now get in on one of the gaming's biggest and best-selling title brands is Microsoft's very own, considering that it actually owns Minecraft after purchasing Mojang for $2.5 billion way back in 2014. Thankfully for owners of the previous OS version, anyone who purchased the game for Windows Phone 8 will also be able to download the Windows 10 Mobile version at zero additional charges.

According to Windows, Minecraft: Pocket Edition on Windows 10 Mobile is now available to all new players for $6.99 USD, but it is absolutely free to players who have already bought the game on Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone 8 players who would upgrade their software to the Windows Phone 10 will automatically update to the latest version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition on the Windows 10 Mobile.
