For the first time in music history, Mexican-American music legend Carlos Santana and industry icons Earth, Wind and Fire will join forces in a concert tour in the summer of 2020, according to an article by Rolling Stone.

The tour is in continuation of the 20th anniversary celebration of Santana's album Supernatural which is the culmination of his journey towards spirituality. Being baptized as a born-again Christian in 1992, meditation and mysticism became central to Santana's life, and he began to see himself as a musical shaman whose pursuit of songs offered hope and healing.

Santana and Earth, Wind and Fire's summer tour, will kick off in Chula Vista, California, on June 19th, hitting major cities, including the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, on July 1, and New York's Jones Beach Theater on August 15. On August 23, the collaboration will also make a stop at the original site of Woodstock (now Bethel Woods Center for the Arts), where the 72-year old musician performed more than 50 years ago.

"It is a great joy and honor to co-share music with the magnificent elements of Earth, Wind and Fire," Carlos Santana said in a statement. "We look forward to delight, joy and ecstasy!"

"I feel like a 20-year-old on stage playing with my band, and they deliver incredible energy on every song," he added. "When we hit the stage, we know we will touch your heart and make you dance, sing, cry, laugh and leave your worries and fears behind. The shows will feature the hits of yesterday, today and tomorrow...with energy!"

Santana is most known for his greatest hits "Oye Como Va," "Black Magic Woman" and "Samba Pa Ti." Aside from Earth, Wind and Fire, he has already collaborated with many world-renowned artists, including Tito Puente, Fleetwood Mac, Willie Nelson, Rob Thomas and Maná.

Last summer, Santana released his 25th album, Africa Speaks, featuring groundbreaking 49 songs. Meanwhile, the Earth, Wind and Fire's lead singer Phillip Bailey also released a solo album, Love Will Find a Way, last year.

Both Santana and Earth, Wind and Fire have been recipients of Kennedy Center Honors, considered "the nation's highest honor for influencing American culture through the arts," Santana in 2013 and Earth, Wind and Fire in 2019.

During the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony in 2013, then U.S. President Barack Obama recalled a 22-year-old Santana and his band's performance at Woodstock (in 1969) that rocked the audience with "a mind-blowing mix of blues, jazz, R&B and Latin music. They had never seen anything like it -- and almost overnight Carlos Santana became a star."

"He (Santana) developed a distinctive sound that has drawn admirers from Bob Dylan to Herbie Hancock -- and he gave voice to a Latino community that had too often been invisible to too many Americans," he added.

Ticket sales have kicked off on Friday, February 28th.
