The "Project Python," drug enforcement plan, which has been headed by the Drug Enforcement Administration, is the biggest attempt ever by the United States to dismantle Mexico's infamous drug-dealers that is known for its violent kidnappings and killings. As part of a six-month mission, they had detained hundreds of gang-associated individuals to target their US-based headquarters.

Apart from the national arrests, authorities confiscated more than 20 kilograms of narcotics and 20 million dollars of cash. According to the authorities, the cartel has headquarters in Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Chicago and Atlanta and is a major force on the borders within the South-West.

The DEA confirmed that CJNG has transported illicit narcotics in the US by entering different smuggling routes across the south-west border, particularly Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez and Nuevo Laredo according to the 2019 National Drug Threat Assessment.

The sudden growth in CJNG's operations in drug smuggling has been defined by a commitment to enter into violent altercations with government's paramilitary forces and rival organizations.

In addition, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes,  also known as "El Mencho", the undisputed leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel  is charged with attempting to sell cocaine and methamphetamine all through the United States and is also regarded as one of the most sought after criminal in the law enforcement.

On Tuesday, in Los Angeles California, billboards had appeared advertising a $10 million incentive for the details contributing to the capture of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader Nemesio "El Mencho '' Oseguera.

The government of the United States increased the price paid for details that will lead to the arrest of CJNG leader in October 2018 from $5 million to $10 million. He is being sought for for a variety of federal charges including criminal fraud, the manufacture and sale of illegal drugs in the United States.

In 2015, on drug trafficking charges, Mexico's military arrested Rubén Oseguera González, who was identified as "El Menchito". However, he had spent a couple of years fighting extradition to the United States. It had ended last month when the court rejected the latest objections from his attorney, and he flew into the United States for appearance in a Washington court.

Oseguera Gonzalez, the second CJNG commandant of his father, had pleaded not guilty before his arrest to the allegation of trafficking between 2007 and 2017 of large volumes of cocaine and methamphetamine and the possession of a drug firearms. He is denied bail.

Only a week after, DEA agents detained his sister Jessica Johanna Oseguera Gonzalez, identified as "La Negra" as she was on her way to attend the Court hearing of her brother. She is said to be responsible for making financial transactions with five organizations that are in the U.S. Treasury Department as they are reported to provide Jalisco New Generation Cartel with financial assistance.

As per the investigators, she is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico who used to be a key launderer of CJNG and who lived in Guadalajara, Mexico, until her arrest. She had pled not guilty of the charges.

Rosalinda González Valencia, Oseguera Cervantes ' wife, was detained for money laundering and coordinated criminality in May 2018. Nevertheless, that same year after a judge determined that there was inadequate proof to convict her she was later freed from preventive custody on bail.

Last year, the Department of Justice convicted Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera or "El Chapo", the Sinaloa cartel boss, who was made internationally recognized through his dramatic prison breaks. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in July.
