Kevin Durant's Injury

Kevin Durant has suffered from an Achilles injury when he was still in the Golden State Warriors during the 2019 NBA Finals. Durant was at the list of free agency at that time and Brooklyn Nets knew Durant's injury before they let him sign a four-year contract together with Kyrie Irving.

According to sports news, he went into surgery two days after he got the injury and began his recovery and rehabilitaion. Brooklyn Nets is hoping that he could back again in his form and play with the team with at least 3 years.

Typically, an injury like this needs nine months before they can fully recover. However, players who return after an injury like this are less likely not to be in their form again. An example of this is Rudy Gay who has been productive for spurs after his recovery and rehabilitation while the then Kobe Bryant had never fully bounced back in Lakers.

Is this the End of Kevin Durant's Career in the NBA?

2020 seems not a good start for Kevin Durant. Since the 2019-2020 season began, he has never played even once in his new team due to his injury. When the season was suspended due to the global pandemic, he tested positive for the virus along with three other players from Nets.

There are many rumors inside the league that Kevin Durant is not planning to return to play with his team as the season resumes amid COVID-19 pandemic. Durant told a sports news outlet: "My season is over."

He explained that his decision not to play in the entire season has long been discussed since last summer for him to have time to fully recover from his injury. However, there is a great possibility that he will return on the court in the following season.

How Does Kevin Durant Prepare for the Next Season?

Durant who suffered from an injury believed that he is not yet ready to play the type of intensity expected from him if he plans to return when the season resumes. Instead of going back, he will prepare himself for the next season.

However, Durant did not confirm if he is already joining the game practices of the team. He said: "That is a decision we are still making. I still got some time to make it. As of right now, I am enjoying the routine I am on. I'm doing well."

As of now, Kevin Durant is doing his best to fully recover from his injury and he also said that he feels like not having injury just like to other players. He is physically gaining back his strength by working out every day and going to the gym.

The next NBA season will start on Dec.1 this year and by that time fans are expecting that they will see Kevin Durant back on the game court.
