FOXSports has confirmed that LeBron James will not be running for president of the NBA Players Association after all.

It was just this past weekend when James told FOXSports' Bill Reiter that he was considering a run for the position, explaining that it was "something that I will look into."

James, who is coming off back-to-back titles with the Miami Heat, decided that he would not have enough time at this point his career.

"I just think the union is going backwards, and it's not in a good place right now," James said over the weekend in an interview with ESPN. "I'm not sure I have the time to do it, but it's something I'm going to think about with my team and go from there. But I think we all can agree there's been a lot of transition in our union in the last couple of years. If it's not me in that seat then I hope it's someone who is comfortable with it and can do the job."

While many people believe that LeBron would do well as president of the union, they also understand that it might be too much on his plate. ESPN analyst Skip Bayless tweeted, "LeBron as potential union prez: Absolutely the right man, at the wrong time. In prime should focus soely on 3rd ring. MJ would have."

Oklahoma City Thunder player Derek Fisher is the most recent NBA player to serve as president of the NBAPA. Fisher became president in 2006 and served in that role until the end of his term earlier this year.

The union has been mired in controversy as of late. Fisher found himself embroiled in a legal battle with former NBAPA executive Billy Hunter, who accused Fisher of striking a secret deal with team owners during the 2011 NBA lockout. Hunter was since fired from his position when a selection committee voted him out earlier this year.

Although James decided not to run, he still stresses the importance of finding a competent replacement.

"Hopefully we can have someone in that position who understands how important it is, and getting it back to where it should be," he said.
