An old man who is set to serve 505 years imprisonment will be released.

Juan Carlos Seresi, a convicted money launderer, is projected to be released on July 8, 2419, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

He was convicted in 1991 for laundering cocaine cartel cash. This was even in fact featured in CNN News.

On Thursday, a judge in Los Angeles slashed his 505 years imprisonment and ordered that Juan Carlos Seresi must be released as soon as possible.

The U.S. District Court Judge Stephen V. Wilson said that the old man must be freed without delay.

In Judge Wilson's order, Seresi will be subjected to a three-year term of supervised release. After knowing this, Seresi was surprised and said that the decision was a miracle.

His 46-year-old daughter Patti Mawer said that her father has been in jail since she was a teenager but he remained an integral part of their family.

Seresi is just one of the four defendants who were sentenced to serve 505 years imprisonment after they were convicted of laundering cocaine in 1991.

Their case was featured on CNN and the article noted how the sentences were considered harsh even back then.

In fact, critics during that time described the punishment as draconian and have since been widely condemned amid a national conversation around justice reform.

Judge Wilson denied the request of the prosecutors to overturn the men's convictions "in the interests of justice" due to special treatment given to a government witness by FBI agents that were not disclosed to the defense.

Meanwhile, Seresi's lawyer filed a motion seeking his release because of his advanced age ad advanced diagnosis of high blood pressure that makes him more susceptible to the virus. The Prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles granted the motion based on compassionate ground.

Moreover, Wilson clarified that those were not the only reasons why Seresi was entitled to an early release. Wilson said that also considered other factors that amounted to "extraordinary and compelling reasons" for granting his freedom.

It was also found out that Seresi has already served 30 years behind bars, earned three associate degrees while inside the prison, and does not have any disciplinary record while he was inside the jail. These are enough for Judge Wilson to release Seresi from jail.

The Judge also wrote "The Court's findings should not be construed to minimize the severity of the Defendant's conduct. A key employee of the ringleaders of a substantial money laundering conspiracy," He also added that he was ordering the release under a "catch-all" provision of federal law.

Reuven Cohen, one of Seresi's lawyers, whose firm took the case on a pro bono basis released a statement also and said that they were so happy for Juan Carlos and his family. Though his four other brothers were also convicted but Juan Carlos Seresi was least culpable of the defendants by the sentencing judge.
