One of the most painful things a child can experience is losing his parents. It is an agony that will always leave a painful mark on his heart. This is exactly what happened to a four-year-old boy in San Antonio whose both parents died due to COVID-19.

Raiden Gonzalez will turn five years old this November 28 but this year's celebration will no longer be the same as the previous years.

Both his parents will not be there to celebrate with him because they died due to the infectious and deadly COVID-19.

Rozie Salinas, the grandmother of the child, shared through NBC News the 4-year-old boy's wish on his birthday this month. It would be hard for her to explain to her grandson what happened.

"He misses his mom since he was a mama's boy. Just this morning he told me that he wishes he had his mom back and he just wanted her back," Salinas shared.

She also explained that it was difficult to answer what the young by wished for his birthday. Instead, she said that they are now angels, watching, and protecting them.

Even though Rozie Salinas is still mourning the death of her daughter and son-in-law, she wants to make Raiden's birthday on Nov. 28 memorable. She and her sister are planning to have a drive-by-celebration which he admitted is quite large.

"We have several truck clubs, bikers, Mustang clubs, classic cars, Jeep clubs, plus the fire department. It's going to be a huge turnout," she said.

Though it is quite difficult and exhausting, they will do everything just to make her grandson's 5th birthday extraordinary.

The tragic event in their family started when a co-worker the boy's father tested positive for the virus earlier this year. A few days after, his father tested positive on June 3 and was hospitalized.

Rozie Salinas shared that healthcare workers in the hospital told her at that time that her son-in-law was one of the sickest at the hospital and on June 26, her son-in-law died at the age of 33.

Meanwhile, Raiden's mom was still mourning for the tragic death of her husband when she suddenly died on Oct. 5 just hours after she fell started feeling ill.

Days after her daughter's death, a healthcare worker called her and said that Mariah, her daughter, tested positive for the virus as well.

"Mariah wanted to do a memorial for Adan, but she never got to it." Now, she said that she is planning on having a memorial for both her daughter and son-in-law after the holidays.

Raiden's mother was a teacher and he is a pre-kindergarten pupil at the school where her mother worked. While her father was a truck driver.

It could be difficult for the child to study in the school where he used to see her other every day but her grandmother said, "They take really good care of him. They know what his situation is."
