The world-renowned football star Cristiano Ronaldo became the first person to gain 500 hundred million social media followers, which is even greater than the current American population.

According to Worldometer, the population of the United States is around 332 million as of Feb. 18. Ronaldo's 500 million followers are combined numbers of his various social media platforms.

A Republic World report said that Ronaldo had about 125 million followers on his official Facebook page, 263 million followers on his Instagram account, and 91 million followers on Twitter.

Ronaldo reportedly had 1.72 million subscribers on YouTube despite his hiatus on his account for the last four years. According to News 18, the 36-year-old football star has more followers than all the 20 English Premier League Clubs combined.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Domination on Various Social Media Platforms

Cristiano Ronaldo has gained a massive fan base on social media for his exceptional football skills over the years. Republic World reported that the Portuguese soccer superstar is also a fashion icon for many that seems to get him more attention on social media.

News 18 shared that on Instagram, which has around one billion users, Ronaldo has the most followers, followed by Ariana Grande with 221 million followers and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with 217 million followers.

The report noted that the football star also sits the third most followed Facebook page after Facebook's official page with 214 million followers and a South Korean company with 159.82 million followers.

According to Republic World, Ronaldo's staggering fan-following figures are only behind China and India's population, the two most populated countries globally.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Achievement

Cristiano Ronaldo's follow rate is not surprising since the football star expresses his strength and expertise in the game. According to a Goal report, Ronaldo is one of the most decorated athletes in the world of football since he was able to get a hold of every trophy for both club and country, alongside breaking goalscoring milestones.

The report noted that the football star also became the first player to score in two finals for two different winning teams, which first happened in the opening goal for Manchester United versus Chelsea in the 2008 finals, and the second was when through a penalty in the 120th minute against Atletico Madrid in 2014.

The report added that Cristiano Ronaldo was able to win a total of five Champions League titles while playing for Manchester United and Real Madrid.

With Cristiano Ronaldo's achievement in the world of football, his 500 million social media followers may be considered worth it. Five hundred million people will now want to update themselves regarding Ronaldo's achievement.

Only time can tell whether the number of followers will stack up and gather more numbers as he continues to play in the field - now with a significant role for Juventus.
