For the first time in the history of major football leagues, Mexico's Liga MX and Major League Soccer (MLS) were scheduled to face each other for an all-star game that will be held in Los Angeles, California. USA Today reported that the announcement of the historic match was made by Commissioner Don Garber on Wednesday.

MLS highlighted that the all-star game presented by Target marks the latest piece of the partnership between MLS and Liga MX, including the major events such as the "League's Cup" and the "Campiones Cup."

Liga MX and MLS All-Star Game: Mexico's League on the Match and Venue

The all-star game between Liga MXC and MLS was scheduled to take place at Banc of California Stadium, situated in Los Angeles, on August 25. Associated Press emphasized that the stadium where the historic match will take place is the home of Los Angeles FC, which is appropriate since L.A. is one of the areas with the largest Latino populations in the world. Banc of California Stadium is also a battleground for both major leagues.

Liga MX Executive President Mikel Arriola expressed their excitement about their upcoming match against MLS.

"This is going to be an intense match in a fantastic setting and world-class stadium in Los Angeles," said Arriola, adding that Los Angeles is a city that has a deep connection to their "country, league players, and fans." The Liga MX president furthered that the all-star game is a pivotal part of the internalization project of their league "to reach more audiences beyond Mexico."

It was also confirmed that Bob Bradley will coach MLS all-stars in the upcoming historic match. Bradley is known to be a three-time MLS coach of the year with host club Los Angeles Football Club.

"It's always an honor to represent our city and our league on the international stage, and we look forward to competing against Liga MX all-stars," said Bradley.

Despite the confirmation of the MLS coach, details regarding who will stand as a coach for Liga MX were not furthered by the officials.

Liga MX Vs. MLS Broadcast and Future Plans

USA Today noted that the fans can watch the historic match on Fox Sports 1 and Univision.

Meanwhile, MLS highlighted that the match can also be watched from overseas as it will be broadcasted in Canada on TSN and TVA Sports. Meanwhile, fans from Mexico, Latin America, and more than 190 countries can see the match on ESPN.

"It should be noted that this game will be broadcasted in almost 200 countries around the world, and it will only be the game of its type," said Garber at a news conference. Garber also pointed out that no other league has done anything like the all-star game.

Although the all-star game between Liga MX and MLS will happen for the first time, Garber did not rule out the possibility of continuing the match between the two leagues in the future. Garber added that the match's success can also lead to the expansion of the eight-team leagues' cup.

Tickets for the Liga MX and MLS all-star game will be available starting Thursday, July 14.
