Anthony Fauci says that the growing rift between vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans will get much worse, leading to "Two Americas."

Fauci Has Cause for Concern

Anthony Fauci, the leading infectious disease doctor, said recently during an interview on Tuesday, June 29, that the growing divide will get worse, leading to potential spikes in COVID-19 cases.

Fauci says, "When you have such a low level of vaccination superimposed upon a variant that has a high degree of efficiency of spread, what you are going to see among undervaccinated regions, be that states, cities or counties, you're going to see these individual types of blips,"

He added, "It's almost like it's going to be two Americas."

Several federal health officials noted that after the initial surge of Americans being vaccinated, the Southeast and rural Midwest rates have steadily declined. Fauci is greatly concerned regarding the risks that the areas with very low vaccination rates would pose a greater threat to the entire population and society.

As said by Fauci, the delta variant has an effective degree of spread against places that are unvaccinated will undoubtedly cause more COVID-19 cases coming to light.

Just How Many Are Vaccinated in the U.S.?

The American adults who have been vaccinated are reported to be only 66%, and they only have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19. The rate at which President Joe Biden's goal is to be over 70% before Independence Day, July 4.

The delta variant of the COVID-19 has been said to be the cause of the decline in vaccination rates. The delta variant is believed originated from India that quickly spread across the world, and the number of cases has soared in the United States these past weeks.

More studies have shown that the vaccines currently being used in the U.S. are proven effective against the delta variant. However, unvaccinated Americans are still at high risk of getting infected by the deadly virus strain.

Fauci Has More to Add

Fauci also noted that getting the virus would be much more complicated once you get vaccinated, even more so "entirely preventable." and adds, "If you are not vaccinated, you are at a considerable risk."

U.S. President Biden said that he is confident about the federal government bringing as many Americans to be vaccinated and eventually fully reopen the American economy, possibly at the end of the year.

However, Fauci still believes that the only way to prevent the split amongst "two Americas" is that more Americans should be inoculated before things escalate for the worst in a potential COVID-19 spike.
