TikTok is no longer a video entertainment platform alone, as the tech company expanded into job recruitment, which will allow their users to send video resumes to certain companies.

Also called "TikTok Resumes," the new feature of the social media app would allow the users to apply directly, The Verge reported.

The social media app underscored that their expansion to job recruitment stemmed out from the rise of career and job-related content on the entertainment platform.

The said contents made them believe that there is an opportunity to bring more value to their users' experience as they channel the platform towards job recruitment.

"We're excited to launch 'TikTok Resumes' as a pilot program designed to continue expanding and enhancing TikTok as a new channel for recruitment and job discovery," TikTok said in a statement.

TikTok Resumes: Tech Company Allows Job Recruitment

According to Gizmodo, TikTok users from the United States can send their resumes from July 7 until July 31, in applying for entry, associate, and senior positions, to different companies that are part of the company's pilot program.

TikTok marketing manager Kayla Dixon emphasized that their new feature is also geared towards helping the college students who were affected by the onset of the pandemic in the United States.

Apart from being a result of the surge in career-related content in their platform, Dixon also said that TikTok Resumes is an extension of their TikTok College Ambassadors program, where they previously employed numerous college students as "on-campus brand representatives."

The entertainment platform partnered with different companies that will hire individuals from the app, such as Chipotle, Target, Alo Yoga, WWE, Movie+Shakers, Contra, and Shopify.

Some of the jobs users could apply as social media managers, video producers, in-store employees, and senior data engineers.

"We're humbled to be able to partner with some of the world's most admired and emerging brands, as we pilot a new way for job seekers to showcase their experiences and skillsets," TikTok Global Head of Marketing Nick Tran said in a statement.

TikTok Resumes can be found in the app through #TikTokResumes and at their website: www.tiktokresumes.com. The webpage will be accessible through several entry points, including the discover page of the app.

Applying to Companies Through TikTok Resumes

To apply for a specific job listing, users will have to create a video resume through the app and then send the video to the respective recruiters.

Users are encouraged to showcase their skillsets and experience in the video resume and include #TikTokResumes in their caption when publishing their application.

The tech company further noted that the video resume should be public so that the participating companies could see them. The company would also allot a three-minute rolling time for applicants worrying about their long video resumes.

"We can't wait to see how the community embraces TikTok Resumes," Tran noted.
