Family and friends like her old castmates on "Glee" commemorated actress Naya Rivera on the first anniversary of her death.

Glee casts Heather Morris, Jenna Ushkowitz, Matthew Morrison, Kevin McHale, and Chris Colfer all posted their memories of Naya Rivera online, Deadline reported.

Morris, who played Glee's Brittany Pierce, shared photos and videos, with one showing a tattoo that read, "tomorrow is not promised."

Morris captioned her Instagram post, saying that Rivera is the brightest star in her eyes, and expressed her gratitude that they became friends, scene partners, and "everything in between." Morris added that Rivera's legacy "lives on in kindness" and being that 'sassy queen' in her eyes.

Ushkowitz posted a photo of Naya Rivera during her Glee days on Instagram. She captioned the post, saying that her heart is with Rivera and her family today, July 8.

McHale, on the other hand, posted on Instagram a photo of Rivera and wrote that he misses the deceased co-star.

Rivera's family also commemorated the artist's first death anniversary. Rivera's mother, Yolanda Previtire, said she recalled that day as a beautiful morning and that she had a FaceTime call with her daughter that day.

Previtire remembered telling her daughter that "the water's getting choppy," adding that she told Naya Rivera that she loves her and to call her when she gets off the water, according to a Billboard report.

Rivera's younger sister, Nickayla, said the first five days that her sister was gone were awful. Tahj Mowry also paid tribute to Rivera. The two dated between 2000 to 2004.

Mowry posted a photo of them on Instagram. He said that it is hard for him to speak about what he feels as it is nowhere near the pain that Rivera's mother, siblings, father, ex-husband, and son had to deal with and are still dealing with, the People reported

Mowry noted that Rivera's voice best was always the best he had ever heard.

Naya Rivera's Death

Naya Rivera had taken her four-year-old son Josey to Lake Piru for a day out. The actress was seen arriving at a dock in her car and walking with Josey to rent a boat.

Rivera and her son decided to spend some time in the water and counted to three before jumping in. She told Josey to get back in the boat not long after, Fox News reported.

Josey got back onto the boat with the help of Rivera. Josey heard his mother yell "help" before she put her arm in the air. She then disappeared into the water.

Josey was found alive and asleep on the boat. A call was placed to 911 and reported a missing person. Authorities searched for Naya Rivera, which took several days due to difficult conditions that lowered visibility in the lake.

A week after she went missing, she was found in the lake, and authorities said it was her. Officials identified her death as an accident as there was no indication of foul play or suicide.

Drugs and alcohol were also ruled out as contributing factors. An autopsy confirmed that the actress died of accidental drowning.

Her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has since filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Ventura County on behalf of their son.
