Viral TikTok Video Caught Mom Stopping Her Son’s Marriage Proposal by Shouting ‘No!'

A TikTok video showing a mom expressing her opposition to her son's marriage proposal went viral.

In the TikTok video, which has already garnered more than 9.5 million views, the man who goes by the name "Cat Dad" can be seen with his girlfriend in an overlooking field.

His mom then can be heard yelling, "No!" just as the man went to pull out a ring from his pocket to propose to his girlfriend, who was standing on a ledge above him, News.com.au reported.

The man uploaded the TikTok video, and it has stirred different reactions from the netizens.

According to "Cat Dad," the video was taken by his dad as he prepares to take down on his one knee and ask his girlfriend for marriage, Mirror reported.

But as he was about to pop the question, his mother could be heard saying, "No, no, no!" The man then returned the ring box in his pocket and walked towards his family.

"My dad didn't know what to do so he just kept recording," The TikTok user captioned in his video.

However, News.com.au reported that while at first, it appeared that the mom has disapproved of her son's proposal, she later yells "get down" to her son's girlfriend, who was standing on the wall, perhaps showing concern with her safety.

Some TikTok users were quick to criticize the man and his mom. One user said the man's girlfriend got lucky, adding who wants to marry someone who allows their mom to choose their wife.

Another TikTok user said marriage proposals should have been between the couple. One user described the man with no backbone, saying he could not make his own decisions and listens to his mom.

As the TikTok users criticized the man and his mom for what happened in the proposal, Cat Dad also posted a video of his mom laughing on the viral video.

Reacting to the comments,

The mom can be heard saying, "you two are so rude making fun out of it [the backlash]," suggesting that the mother's comment was kind of a joke.

The man eventually shared a follow-up video, telling TikTok users that he did, in fact, propose to his girlfriend, and she said "yes." They are now married.

But the man quipped that his wife "did not get too lucky" as they ended up taking their engagement photos on the same wall where his wife was standing in the proposal video to commemorate the moment.
