In March, President Joe Biden tapped Harris to lead the efforts in collaborating with Mexico as well as the northern triangle countries to stem and address the migration in the southern border. Harris was also expected to address the long-term partnership between the said countries.

A fact sheet from the White House revealed that Mexico received at least 4,049,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from the United States.

"Our goals are to increase the global COVID-19 vaccination coverage, prepare for surges, and prioritize healthcare workers and other vulnerable populations," the White House fact sheet reads. The White House furthered that they would continue to work with COVAX, regional partners like African Union, and CARICOM to make sure that the doses would be delivered equitably.

The Mexican president expressed gratitude for the said vaccine doses donated by the U.S. Furthermore, López Obrador also lauded the U.S. Mexico relations under the Biden administration.
