Mexican Boxer Canelo Alvarez's schedule is fully packed this 2022 as he is slated to fight Russian Boxer Dmitry Bivol this coming May and Gennady Golovkin this year in a trilogy bout.

Sources confirmed Alvarez's match to ESPN on Friday, saying that the Mexican boxer's match against Bivol will be a pay-per-view event on DAZN.

The Alvarez-Bivol bout on May 7 was confirmed after the Mexican boxer signed a two-fight contract deal with Matchroom Boxing, per Bleacher Report.

Boxing Scene reported that Alvarez and Bivol will fight under the WBA light heavyweight champion category.

The amount of the contract Alvarez signed was unclear. However, ESPN noted that his upcoming bout with Bivol will guarantee the Mexican boxer to receive more than $85 million.

If Alvarez wins against Bivol, he will face rival Gennadiy Golovkin on the boxing ring for the third time on September 17, per Boxing Scene.

Canelo Alvarez Next Fight 2022: Dmitry Bivol Calls Mexican Boxer 'One of the Best'

In April, Dmitry Bivol revealed with Sky Sports that he is looking forward to fighting Alvarez.

"Of course, I would like to fight him at light heavyweight or super middleweight because I want to fight best guys, and he is one of the best," Bivol said per Bleacher Report.

Alvarez's fight with Bivol will be his second fight in the light heavyweight division since 2019. It can be recalled that in 2019, Canelo knocked out Sergey Kovalev in the WBO championship, which he later vacated.

Meanwhile, Bivol will defend his WBA light heavyweight title from Alvarez. It can be recalled that the Russian boxer held the title since 2017 and his most recent win came in December when he defeated Umar Salamov through a unanimous decision.

It was still unclear where the Alvarez-Bivol fight will take place. However, Boxing Scene noted that T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is the front-runner to host the bout.

Canelo Alvarez Next Fight 2022: Mexican Boxer to Face Gennady Golovkin

Part of the boxing trilogy under Alvarez's contract will make him face his long-time rival, Gennady Golovkin. However, that fight will only happen if Golovkin will be able to win against Japan's Ryota Murata in their middleweight title unification fight.

The exact date of Murata and Golovkin's bout is still unclear, but if Golovkin managed to win against the Japanese boxer, reports noted that he will face Alvarez on September 17.

It can be recalled that Alvarez and Golovkin previously fought against each other twice in the boxing ring under the middleweight category.

According to ESPN, both fights produced a hefty amount of money for Alvarez and Golovkin, as each of their previous bouts produced around $20 million in gate receipts and around $1 million pay-per-view buys.

Alvarez and Golovkin's match in 2017 ended in a split decision draw, but the Mexican boxer secured his win in their second fight that occurred in 2018.

Alvarez's trilogy fight will earn him another fortune. According to Boxing Scene, the Mexican boxer could earn up to $100 million altogether from his upcoming fights with Dmitry Bivol and Gennady Golovkin.
