President Joe Biden has mourned several times over a loved one's death, such as the deaths of his first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, and son, Beau Biden.

While campaigning in 2020, the president said Beau should be running for president instead of him. Biden's son died in 2015 at the age of 46 from glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

On the other hand, Biden's first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, died at 30, along with their 13-month-old daughter Naomi in a car accident.

Neilia and Naomi were inside a Chevrolet station wagon when a tractor-trailer carrying corn broadsided the family's vehicle, Independent reported. Beau and his brother Robert Hunter Biden survived the accident.

President Joe Biden's First Wife: Neilia Hunter Biden

Neilia Hunter Biden is known to be the daughter of successful diner operators in New York state. She was born on July 28, 1942 in Skaneateles and graduated from Penn Hall preparatory school in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in 1960.

Neilia Hunter was known to have participated in French club, hockey, swimming, and student council. She was also the photography editor of the "Penntonian," as well as vice president and then president of the International Relations Club.

Joe Biden and Neilia Hunter met on the beach in Nassau, Bahamas during spring break in 1963 when she was a sophomore college at Syracuse University. The president was then a junior at the University of Delaware.

Biden and a couple of friends snuck inside an expensive hotel by wrapping a hotel towel around their waists and walking past the security guards, and it was then he saw Neilia Hunter lying by the pool.

He told his friends, "I've got the blonde," The New York Times reported. Biden, later on, applied to law school at Syracuse to be near Neilia Hunter, who was reportedly making sure he was studying enough to get in.

There, Neilia Hunter earned her master's degree in English and taught special needs students. In his 2007 memoir, Biden wrote that it became more of a plan once he had his first wife with him than a "daydream."

Neilia Hunter and Joe Biden got married in August 1966. It was said that Neilia Hunter wanted five children and a "big Tudor-style house with real trees."

After the fatal car accident, Joe Biden's sister, Valerie, moved in and lived with him and his sons for four years.

Joe Biden's Second Wife: Jill Jacobs Biden

Joe Biden met Jill Jacobs in 1975. He said in his 2007 memoir that Jill gave back his life and made him start to think that his family might be whole again, Marie Claire reported.

Beau Biden earlier recalled that Jill came along in 1977 and "rebuilt our family, and helped my dad rebuild our family."

Jill was born in Hammonton, New Jersey on June 3, 1951. Her father was a vice president of a savings and loans institution.

She was married in 1970 to Bill Stevenson but separated in 1974 and divorced the next year. She attended the University of Delaware and earned her degree in 1975.

Jill met the president on a blind date that Biden's brother has arranged. At the time, Joe Biden was a U.S. senator and a single father of two young boys. Jill worked as an English teacher and later taught emotionally troubled adolescents at a psychiatric hospital.

Jill Jacobs and Joe Biden got married on June 17, 1977 and had their own child in 1981.
