Kyrie Irving made some franchise history in Orlando Tuesday night as Brooklyn Nets continued to climb the Eastern Conference standings.

A day after Wolves' Karl-Anthony Towns became the first player of the 2021-22 season to score 60 points in a game, Irving, whose previous career-high was 57 points for Cleveland in 2015, matched his effort Tuesday.

The seven-time All-Star reminded the NBA community why he remains one of the most lethal scorers in the league, making a career-high 60 points in 35 minutes of action in a 150-108 victory over the Orlando Magic.

Irving scored 20 of his 31 shots and successfully scored eight of his 12 tries beyond the three-point range. He also had six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and only one turnover, The Athletic reported.

"He just scored 50 last week. It's remarkable," said Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash.

Irving's 60-piece comes exactly one week after he dropped 50 points against the Charlotte Hornets. It was also two days after Kevin Durant's 53-point performance on the New York Knicks on Sunday.

That makes the duo the first pair of teammates in NBA history to have more than 50 points in back-to-back games.

Kyrie Irving Scores 41 Halftime - the Second-Most Points Behind Kobe Bryant

The point guard did most of his damage by halftime, pouring in 41, the second-most points over the last 25 years behind Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

As the Brooklyn Nets (36-33) built a 30-point lead first half for their fourth straight win, the Orlando Magic, the worst team in the Eastern Conference, fell to 18-52.

The Orlando fans began chanting "Kyrie, Kyrie," following Irving's 50-point mark with a driving layup, with a remaining 5:02 in the third quarter.

He got his franchise record on a 3-pointer, with 8:32 left in the fourth, and watched the remainder of the blowout from the bench.

If your teammates are supporting you and telling you to break records, then "that makes the basketball well worth it," Irving told YES Network after the victory.

Deron Williams set the previous franchise point record of 57 in 2012, Nets Daily reported.

Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving Unable to Play in Next Three Games

After scoring a career-high and a franchise record, Kyrie Irving goes into mothballs for the next three games. Under current New York City's COVID-19 regulations, the unvaccinated Irving cannot play in the Nets' upcoming three games, all in Brooklyn, starting with Wednesday's tilt against Dallas.

Unless something unexpected happens, Irving's next appearance will be on March 23, when the Nets visit Memphis. Irving can play in three of the Nets' last 13 regular-season games under current rules and one of the last eight.

If the Nets encounter the Raptors in the play-in tournament, Kyrie Irving is ineligible to play under existing New York and Toronto rules. Currently, Toronto is the seventh seed in the East, with the Nets eighth.

Perhaps Tuesday's news that unvaccinated players on the Yankees and Mets won't be able to play home games unless the rules change by next month will encourage the city to allow Irving to suit up at Barclays Center just in time for the end of the NBA regular season.
