Apple has received a series of complaints that the recent iOS 15.4 update is causing iPhone batteries to drain faster.

According to Apple Insider, users complained about the same problem when the iPhone 12 Pro was released. iOS update has commonly caused faster than usual draining of an iPhone battery, as seen after iOS 14.6.

Apple has offered an explanation and solution to those affected by the iOS 15.4 update issue. Apple Support tweeted that it is typical for apps and features to need to adjust up to 48 hours after an update.

Apple recommends that users wait to see if the issue resolves itself, offering to follow up if the problems persist.

Apple iPhone Battery Drain Issue

The glitch has caused some users to express their gripes on social media, with one iPhone user tweeting that the battery drained "so fast" after updating to iOs 15.4.

Another one asked why Apple could not get the update release right the first time. According to Best Life Online, experts noted that software updates on devices often cause battery drain issues, whether users notice it or not.

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, a researcher at business technology news website ZDNet, said that installing a new OS on an iPhone triggers a lot of "stuff to go on in the background." It includes indexing to recalibrating the battery, which can go on for hours or even days.

He added that it does not only consumes power, but the battery recalibration can give the impression that the battery is draining more quickly when in reality it isn't.

After downloading a software update, a quick fix for issues can be restarting your phone. It can often resolve the problem outright.

One could also run a quick diagnostic on your phone's hardware if you notice the problem even after the two-day window.

Kingsley-Hughes explained that users could go to Settings, select Battery, then Battery Health, and the message should be it is good for Peak Performance Capability, "then it's either just the normal stuff going on or a bug." Users can also reach out to Apple for other troubleshooting or repair.

Apple iOS 15.4 Update

Apple has stopped signing iOS 15.3.1 after the release of iOS 15.4 on March 14. It means that it is not possible to downgrade to that version of iOS if they have updated to iOS 15.4, according to Mac Rumors.

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 launched several new features, including the ability to unlock an iPhone 12 while wearing a mask with a newer Face ID.

In addition, there is a Universal Control on compatible iPad models, dozens of new emojis, and a new Siri voice option.

New emojis include new options for pregnant people, hands forming a heart shape, a salute, and a lip-biting emoji. There is also a melting face emoji and a face holding back tears. Another new feature is the ability to start SharePlay sessions directed from supported apps.
