NBA icon LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, have been dating since they were teenagers in high school.

According to The Sun, the two met in their hometown of Akron in Ohio, long before LeBron started his professional NBA career. LeBron and Savannah went to rival high schools but met in 2002 when the Lakers star was 17, and she was 16 years old after their paths crossed due to a mutual friend.

The mutual friend told Savannah that LeBron had asked for her phone number. In a 2018 interview with Cleveland Magazine, Savannah recalled the incident and said, "Nope. I'll take his number."

She noted that she was "probably bored or something" when she remembered she got LeBron's number "that I can call." After reaching out, LeBron took Savannah on their first date, and since then, the two have become inseparable.

The pair decided to tie the knot on September 14, 2013, at the Capella Chape Grand Del Mar hotel in San Diego. Savannah James said her now 37-year-old husband treats her with so much respect, adding that it was hard not to love him with the way LeBron James is taking care of her and the kids.
