Gloria Estefan confirmed that she turned down an offer to share the stage with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.

According to Daily Mail, Estefan made her statement during an interview with Andy Cohen on the "Watch What Happens Live" on Tuesday night.

Cohen reportedly brought up the Super Bowl performance in light of Lopez's confession in her Netflix documentary "Halftime." During the interview, Estefan explained why she refused to be the third Latin icon in the Super Bowl performance.

The 64-year-old Cuban-American singer confirmed that she had been approached about joining JLo and Shakira in the Latin music-themed show. However, she turned down the offer because it was too overstuffed for such a short time.

"Look, this is the bottom line. You have very little time, like 12 minutes or something, to get things on and off the set," said Estefan, adding that one artist can do it all.

Gloria Estefan further noted that she thinks the Super Bowl organizers wanted to throw a "Miami and Latin extravaganza" and "tried to pack it as much as possible."

Gloria Estefan Shades Jennifer Lopez For 'Halftime' Documentary Comments Over Super Bowl Performance

In the same interview, Gloria Estefan also threw a light-hearted jab at Jennifer Lopez as she moved on, saying, "OK, and imagine what JLo would have said if I was the third [performer]. I literally would come out, done 'Shake Your Body' [and 'Conga'] and out."

Estefan further noted that it was JLo and Shakira's moment, adding that she did not want to go "on a diet in December.

Gloria Estefan has already performed at two Super Bowl halftime shows. Not all performers are lucky to be included in a single one during their career.

Jennifer Lopez on 2020 Super Bowl Performance

Gloria Estefan's comments came after Jennifer Lopez's "Halftime" documentary showed her reaction to Shakira being named the co-headliner for the event.

The "Let's Get Loud" singer noted that she was not thrilled about the decision to split her time on stage, adding that having two people do the Super Bowl was the "worst idea in the world."

Lopez said in her documentary that the duration given to them allowed them to have 30 seconds per song. JLo went on to say that if the Super Bowl performance were a double headliner, then the organizers should have given them at least 20 minutes.

JLo's manager, Benny Medina, further noted that it was an insult to think that two Latinas were needed "to do the job that one artist historically has done." Lopez's frustrations were directed at the show's organizers and not at her co-headliner, Shakira.

In her documentary, Jennifer Lopez also tearfully recounted that her daughter Emme was not nervous at all to sing in front of millions of people.

She also said she instructed her daughter to look at the camera and send a message to "every little girl" to "get loud and never back down from bringing light to injustice."
