Gavin Newsom is a career public servant currently serving as the governor of California, one of the richest states in the United States.

As a businessman, Gavin Newsom co-founded 11 businesses. At 24, he and other investors started the PlumpJack Associates L.P. in 1991. 

They then co-founded the PlumpJack Winery the very next year. By 2002, the then businessman's business holdings were valued at over $6.9 million.

Newsom had a variety of businesses across California, which can be found in the Bay Area, Napa Valley, Palm Springs, and Lake Tahoe. These include an upscale chain of wine stores, wineries, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, and retail shops.

While he started with the PlumpJack Winery on Fillmore Street in 1992, his businesses grew over time. According to Celebrity Net Worth, that business now has over 700 employees. Newsom and his fellow investors also used the PlumpJack name in their other businesses.

While running for governor, Newsom cited his business acumen and touted his success as an entrepreneur. He also cited his 23 businesses and that he was a job creator himself, with over 800 employees across all those businesses.

Last year, he also wrote a children's book titled "Ben and Emma's Big Hit." The California governor grew up with dyslexia and used his experience to write "Ben and Emma's Big Hit."
