The Florida Education Board is officially snubbing President Joe Biden's Title IX Gender Equity Law after issuing a state-wide memo urging schools otherwise.

Earlier this year, the White House strengthened its support against transgender discrimination in the country's schools by signing an Executive Order ensuring such. However, Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz countered it in his state, urging that compliance with Biden's orders might lead to schools breaking state laws.

Florida Education Board Counters President Biden's LGBTQ Executive Order

Politico reports that Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. has released a memorandum - warning schools across the state that federal policies should not be followed and not be treated as governing laws. Diaz is alluding to President Joe Biden's recent pronouncements on strengthening anti-discrimination policies among students who are members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Per Diaz, those who would enforce such guidance might face legal trouble from the State of Florida.

"The Department will not stand idly by as federal agencies attempt to impose a sexual ideology on Florida schools that risk the health, safety, and welfare of Florida students," the memorandum reads.

The DeSantis-appointed commissioner particularly noted on the two-page memo that providing extensive accommodation for trans girls (using/joining female-specific spaces such as bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams) might face legal ramifications.

"To the extent that you do any of these things, you jeopardize the safety and wellbeing of Florida students and risk violating Florida law," the commissioner cautions.

Florida Department of Education Communications Director Alex Lanfranconi also pointed out that the schools will not be threatened into submission to Biden's "radical agenda."

Lanfranconi and Diaz's crackdown on LGBTQ protection stems from President Joe Biden's forwarding of the Title IX Rule, which extends protection primarily to transgender kids across the nation.

President Biden Moves Forward with Title IX Amendments

Last June, President Biden announced that they are expanding the Title IX protections against sex discrimination to include transgender kids in the 1972 law.

The landmark proposal would be a huge move for the transgender community as this would be the first time that the sector would be equally protected by law.

"Every student should be able to learn, grow, and thrive in school & not be derailed in their education by sex discrimination," Education Secretary Miguel Cardona explained.

Specifically, the amended law would guarantee transgender kids a safe environment in federally-funded schools across the country by implementing a universal response to sexual discrimination, harassment, and assault complaints.

Republican States Battle Biden's Title IX

Florida, a Republican state, is one with other red-colored states across the country calling out Biden's recent pronouncements in favor of the LGBTQ sector.

Similarly, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has been vocal on the rejection of Biden's Title IX proposed amendments.

What irks Republican governors specifically is Biden's move to drain federal-funded schools if they do not abide by the LGBTQ+ protection policies.
