MLB Star Juan Soto was traded by the Washington Nationals to the San Diego Padres, with the deadline approaching for trades within the league.

On Tuesday, the San Diego Padres announced that they have acquired the outfielder, as well as baseman Josh Bell, both from the Washington Nationals.

CBS News reported that the Cardinals and Dodgers were viewed as the other two finalists team for Soto, but the Padres were able to outbid them.

"For me now, I'm just concentrating on baseball... I'm just going to play as hard as I can and play baseball and forget about anything else," Soto said in a New York Times interview, per The Sun.

Soto added that he was not the one making the decision, explaining that the decision is out of his hands.

The former Washington national baseman reportedly has two additional years of team control remaining after this season.

In exchange for Soto, Washington Nationals will receive a six-player package led by McKenzie Gore, Robert Hassell III, and shortstop C.J. Abrams.

Padres' baseman, Eric Hosmer, was originally included in the trade, but Hosmer rejected the trade to the Nationals and chose a trade to the Boston Red Sox.

Before Juan Soto Trade: Soto Declines to Sign 15-Year Extension with Washington Nationals

Last month, Juan Soto declined to sign a 15-year extension offer by the Washington Nationals to him.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Nationals were so "enamored" by Soto that the team offered the largest deal in baseball history and it did not include any deferred money.

Soto was reportedly offered $440 million, and if he accepted that, he would have been the highest-paid baseball player in MLB, surpassing Mike Trout's $426.5 million deal in 2019.

The deal that the Nationals offered would have allowed Soto to receive $29.3 million from his age of 24 through 38 seasons.

It was not the first time that the Nationals tried to win Soto over. In 2021, the team offered him a 13-year extension deal that was reportedly worth $350 million. However, he also declined to sign the said offer.

Juan Soto: Net Worth

Juan Soto's current net worth is at $10 million since he played for the Washington Nationals as an international free agent in 2015. Most of his fortune came from his baseball career.

In 2015, Soto, who was still an international free agent at that time, signed a $1.5 million contract with the Washington Nationals, with his debut in the league taking place at the Gulf Coast League Nationals the following year.

Soto also played for the Suns in 2018, but he was promoted to the Class A-Advanced Carolina League team, The Potomac Nationals. He was then promoted again to Class AA Eastern League where he played with the Harrisburg Senators. However, he immediately went back to Washington Nationals to replace its injured player, Howie Kendrick.

The baseball player of Latin descent was born on October 25, 1998, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Juan Soto became the youngest player to hit 100 home runs in Nationals' history and the eighth youngest in the history of the MLB.
