One Florida woman was found dead on Sunday after a Florida dog attack causing more than 100 dog bites on her body.

Fox News reported that the victim was identified as 69-year-old Shirley Johnson. She was walking home from her son's house in Holmes County on Saturday evening when three dogs mauled her, according to Holmes County Sheriff John Tate.

Tate said a passerby discovered the 69-year-old woman's body around 24 hours later.

The sheriff noted that there was no physical evidence that connected the dogs to the woman's death. Hence, there were no charges pressed against the dogs' owner due to the lack of evidence relating the dogs to the incident.

However, the three dogs believed to be responsible have now been euthanized, as reported by KY3 News report. Neighbors noted that the dogs have been known to have had a history of aggressive behavior.

A medical examiner has reviewed Johnson's body and determined that she was bitten more than 100 times.

Florida Dog Attack

In February, CBS News reported that a dog attacked two women at the state's animal shelter on Thursday. Police noted that it killed one and left the other woman injured.

Broward Sheriff's deputies responded to the attack at 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, along with Oakland Park Fire Rescue.

A 911 call reported an animal bite. Authorities arrived and found two women had been bitten.

Broward Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Claudinne Caro identified the victims as workers at the animal shelter. Caro noted that one of the women was working with the dog when it suddenly got aggressive. The second female worker tried to help but also got herself injured.

The victims were identified as Pam Robb, who was killed, and Angie Anobile, who was Robb's partner.

The dog was a large mixed breed and was recently rescued at the time from Everglades.

The spokeswoman said that it was the first time that the dog had that kind of reaction. Anobile said it was a "fluke accident," adding that nobody did anything that was out of routine.

The dog was euthanized at Broward Animal Care, and a sample had been sent to know if the dog had rabies.

Dog Bites and Dog Attacks

In July, a 70-year-old woman in New York was fatally mauled by a Pitt bull in her own backyard.

Newsweek reported that the Nassau County Police Department issued a press release, saying that officers entered the property and saw that the woman was being attacked by a dog. The dog reportedly belonged to the woman's stepson.

The statement added that the seven-year-old dog "aggressively charged the police" when forces entered the yard.

Meanwhile, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the Pitt bull was shot by an officer.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that over 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year. Out of these victims, more than 800,000 people require medical attention for dog bites.
