Photos and videos of a narco Christmas party allegedly threw by the four sons of Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, known as "Los Chapitos," recently surfaced online.

According to Infobae, several bands performing on a stage, alcoholic drinks, food, and gifts were seen in the images and clips.

Videos and photos also showed hundreds of children's gifts, including Fisher-Price toys, dolls, plastic balls, bicycles, and foam blocks for babies. There were also appliances such as stoves and refrigerators given as gifts.

All gifts and appliances were reportedly adorned with stickers featuring the letters "JGL" - the initials of Joaquin Guzman Lopez, who is one of El Chapo's sons.

Dozens of black caps were also embellished with the same initials, and the word "chapiza" was embroidered on one of the sides. El Chapo's four sons reportedly raffled off at least eight brand-new cars during the event held at a town in Mexico's state of Sinaloa.

Mexico's Sinaloa State Official Claims Images, Videos of Narco Christmas Party Allegedly Threw by Los Chapitos Are Misleading

Secretary of State Public Security Cristobal Castañeda Camarillo said the images and videos that circulated the internet a few days ago might not be coming from this year's narco Christmas party organized by El Chapo's sons, but in a previous year, Periódico Enfoque reported.

"There is information circulating that indicates a recent event in Sinaloa, which is false; The images that are disseminated correspond to December 17, 2020, the date on which an operation was carried out by the three levels of government," Castañeda Camarillo tweeted.

The secretary further noted that the vehicles that appeared in the new viral photos were the cars seized by authorities in the 2020 event in Culiacan, Sinaloa.

That said event was reportedly attended by hundreds of guests in a community in El Dorado, Culiacan. But it was shut down by state and federal security forces allegedly due to COVID-19 measures that banned mass gatherings.

The event held by El Chapo's four sons was in commemoration of a religious tradition in Mexico and Latin America called "posada."

The said tradition, which is usually celebrated between December 16 and December 24, recalls Mary and Joseph's journey searching for a safe refuge for Mary to give birth to Jesus.

El Chapo's Son, Los Chapitos, Follow Their Father's Footsteps in Giving Extravagant Gifts During Christmas Season

Los Chapitos reportedly followed their father's footsteps and his former associate Pablo Escobar, who often gave away extravagant gifts to show their gratitude to those who were loyal to them, especially during the Christmas season.

Last year, El Chapo's sons also allegedly organized a similar large narco Christmas party in Culiacan. Photos and videos of the said event also went viral online afterward.

The images and clips from the narco party showed some bands performing live for the invitees, including those who received eight brand-new cars. Footage of the event also showed rows of toys and other goods lined up with the same black stickers that carried the letters "JGL."

However, a Culiacan police official said at the time that they were not aware of any public event held by the Sinaloa Cartel or El Chapo's sons. A Sinaloa government official also said the "posada" organized by Los Chapitos was intended to maintain the social base built by their father.

The four sons of El Chapo, namely Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, and Jesus Alfredo Guzman, are major targets of the U.S. and Mexican law enforcement for their leadership roles in the Sinaloa Cartel.

They had reportedly assumed leadership roles in the cartel after their father was arrested and extradited to the U.S. El Chapo has dozens of children, but only these four figured prominently in the cartel's operations.

The Los Chapitos allegedly shared control of the Sinaloa Cartel along with their uncle Aureliano "El Guano" Guzman and co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada. Under their leadership, the Sinaloa Cartel has continued to be one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels.

The U.S. State Department has already offered $5 million rewards for any information that could help federal agents arrest El Chapo's four sons.

U.S. investigators noted that the Los Chapitos manage around 11 laboratories in their home state of Sinaloa that produce up to 5,000 pounds of methamphetamine monthly.
