Long Island, New York Representative-elect George Santos is in hot water as it was discovered that he lied about his career, education, and many more. The Republican then spoke to the New York Post and admitted to lying about his bio when he ran for public office.

During the campaign trail, Santos claimed to be employed by several high-profile Wall Street firms, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. He also claimed to have a degree from Baruch College in New York back in 2010.

Santos told the New York Post that his sins were embellishing his resume, and he apologized for it. He admitted that he never really worked directly for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup and added they were just a poor choice of words. He did admit that he is running a company called Link Bridge and was its vice president. He also stated that his company did business with the two gigantic Wall Street firms.

As for his educational attainment, it turned out that he never really graduated from any college or university despite claiming to have graduated from Baruch.

"I own up to that ... We do stupid things in life," he said.

George Santos Also Lied About His Heritage

Santos, who admitted in his New York Post interview that he is Catholic, also lied about having Jewish lineage. This was pointed out by the American Jewish site The Forward, which questioned his claim on his campaign website that his grandparents were Jewish.

Santos claimed his father is Catholic, but his mother was Jewish, stating that both faiths "are mine." His campaign website claimed that his maternal grandparents "fled Jewish persecution in Ukraine" before settling in Belgium and then fleeing again during World War II.

However, The Forward pointed out that Santos's maternal grandparents were both born in Brazil. This was before the Nazis even came to power in Germany.

The Jewish site also pointed out that Santos's mother, Fatima Aziza Caruso Horta Devolder, who died in 2016, admitted to being born in a Rio de Janeiro suburb. A search of her Facebook profile also had no mentions of Jewish terms, including Yom Kippur, Shabbat, or Israel, as well as the words "Jew" or "Jewish" itself. However, his mother did follow various Catholic groups, as well as a Brazilian Catholic priest and singer.

She also posted Catholic themes and images of Jesus, which are not something a Jewish woman would have posted.

According to CNN, as recently as November, Santos made an appearance with the Jewish News Syndicate, stating that he was proud to have had Jewish heritage.

Republican Representative-Elect George Santos Says He Is Not a Criminal

Santos repeatedly told lies about his background as the 2022 midterm election campaign went on. However, in his interview with the Washington Post, the Republican claimed that while he did lie about himself, he is not a criminal.

This came as he was accused of having an unspecified criminal charge filed against him in Brazil. He told the New York Post that he is not a criminal, and he dismissed concerns over his lies that he would be an effective representative for New Yorkers.

"I campaigned talking about the people's concerns, not my resume," he said.
