Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, has died at the age of 54. In a statement to PEOPLE, the singer-songwriter's mom, Priscilla Presley, confirmed her daughter's death on Thursday evening.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," said Priscilla, adding that her daughter was the "most passionate, strong and loving woman" she has ever known.

Priscilla asked for privacy as they dealt "with this profound loss." She also thanked everyone for their love and prayers.

Lisa Marie Presley was taken to a hospital Thursday morning for possible cardiac arrest.

According to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representative who spoke with PEOPLE, paramedics were called to the 5900 block of Normandy drive in Calabasas to treat a woman in her 50s who had stopped breathing.

Once there, they performed CPR and, upon seeing "signs of life," they took the woman to the nearest hospital for "immediate medical care."

Lisa Marie Presley Cause of Death

A source told TMZ that Lisa Marie Presley had complained of stomach aches early Thursday morning that worsened, stressing that Lisa Marie's death was not suicide.

She reportedly suffered a full cardiac arrest that morning before the paramedics arrived.

Just after the housekeeper discovered Lisa Marie motionless in her bedroom, her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who she lives with, returned from dropping off their children at school.

Keough performed CPR on Lisa Marie while waiting for the paramedics. Upon arrival, the paramedics administered at least one epinephrine shot, and her heartbeat returned.

She was then rushed to a nearby hospital and was placed in the ICU, on life support with a temporary pacemaker, TMZ reported. She died later that night.

Elvis Presley's Daughter Lisa Marie Presley Was at Golden Globes Before Cardiac Arrest

Lisa Marie Presley attended Tuesday night's Golden Globes, where she celebrated Austin Butler's win for his role as her father in "Elvis," the Associated Press reported.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lisa Marie praised his performance as "mind-blowing."

After watching Baz Luhrmann's film, she told Entertainment Tonight that she did not know what to do with herself and could not even describe what it meant as it was so incredible, precise, and authentic that she needed five days to process it.

Lisa Marie wrote an essay for PEOPLE about "the horrific reality" of her grief in connection to her son Benjamin Keough's suicide in 2020.

Lisa Marie is also a mother to her twin daughters and her oldest daughter, Riley Keough.

"I've dealt with death, grief, and loss since the age of 9 years old. I've had more than anyone's fair share of it in my life, and somehow, I've made it this far," she wrote in August.

Lisa Marie has three albums under her belt as a recording artist: 2005's "So What" and 2012's "Storm & Grace," as well as 2003's "To Whom It May Concern," which achieved gold in the US for sales of over 500,000 copies.

Elvis Presley's daughter was also a devoted philanthropist. For many years, she headed the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, which helps homeless families by providing them shelter, food, and other necessities.

She also helped Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network aid Hurricane Katrina victims and assisted the Dream Factory's efforts to help children who are fighting severe illnesses or physical limitations.
