Two days after the California mass shooting in Monterey Park that claimed the lives of 11 people, another armed man killed seven people in a state's coastal community.

The latest mass shooting happened Monday in two different locations in Half Moon Bay, a coastal city roughly 30 miles south of San Francisco. According to BBC, the attacker was a local resident named Zhao Chunli, 67.

The news comes as California still mourns the loss of 11 lives during Lunar New Year celebrations in majority-Asian Monterey Park.

The suspect in the Half Moon Bay mass shooting surrendered to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office roughly two hours after the incident Monday.

Four victims were found in a mushroom farm at 2:22 pm local time, and three more were located at a trucking company shortly after.

At a press conference, Sheriff Christina Corpus of San Mateo County reported that the suspect had driven himself to the police station and been taken into custody at around 4:40 pm.

She also said that the suspect was cooperating with authorities and was found to possess a semi-automatic pistol, which may have been used in the attack.

She noted that an eighth victim is being treated in a hospital and is in critical condition. Corpus said investigators believe he was married and a farm worker like his alleged victims and that he acted alone.

California Mass Shooting in Monterey Park Kills 11

The recent California mass shooting in Monterey Park has become one of at least 36 mass shootings in the country so far this month.

It particularly targeted members of the Asian community, with the death toll of the massacre reaching 11.

Monterey Park Police Chief Scott Wiese said officers were on the scene at a ballroom dance club within three to four minutes Saturday.

The suspect fled and went to another dance studio in nearby Alhambra, where a civilian tackled and disarmed him.

Authorities said the gunman managed to escape, with police finding him a day later in a white van about 30 miles away in Torrance. He was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The 72-year-old gunman was identified as Huu Chan Tran, an elderly Chinese immigrant who was interested in dancing but had a hot temper.

According to the sheriff, the gunman was arrested in 1990 for unlawful possession of a firearm. Nine others were also reported wounded in the shooting.
