5 Rising Latin Artists Set to Take Over in 2023

The Recording Industry Association of America reported that the Latin music industry had another massive year in 2022, with sales up 35% from the previous year. 

Latin artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G are showing no signs of slowing down as they dominate the charts and sell out enormous tours, and there are plenty of promising Latin artists ready to take Latin music even further.

Numerous Latin artists had big moments in 2022. Rappers like Blessd and Trueno gained attention for their spontaneous, freestyle-inspired sounds, while musicians like Tokischa and Villano Antillano achieved enormous success for being uncompromising and honest.

5 Rising Latin Artists to Watch Out for in 2023

Across all Latin music subgenres, the pool of rising Latin artists is expanding rapidly, and many new Latin musicians are making a name for themselves. Here are the Latin artists that will likely make it big this year.

Gale

Gale, a Puerto Rican singer who rose to prominence after contributing to the Latin Grammy Award-winning album of Christina Aguilera titled "Aguilera" last year, has spent the previous months preparing to release her own LP.

Singles like "D Pic," a pop-punk denunciation of creeps who send unsolicited dick photographs, have given listeners a taste of the various sounds she is experimenting with and a glimpse of Gale's lively, tongue-in-cheek writing.

Angel Dior

With his viral songs "A I O" and "Zuculento," Dominican dembowsero Angel Dior is expected to be the genre's next distinctive voice. Dior is preaching "dembow," a Dominican musical genre nearly similar to reggaeton. Dior's music has breath-defying verses and wordless hooks that inspired many dance crazes. 

With endorsements from industry heavyweights like Chimbala and La Materialista and an invitation from Bad Bunny to perform at his massive Santo Domingo show, you have a talent set to go worldwide, Rolling Stone reported.

BRATTY

BRATTY, a singer from Sinaloa, Mexico, has a knack for writing catchy pop songs. Her enchantment transcends genre boundaries, from lo-fi bedroom creations to surfy unapologetic punk.

Her imaginative songs, which she writes in the vein of Best Coast and feature topics like birthday celebrations and vacations to Japan, are sure to get you thinking. The Culiacán native went from bedroom producer to multiplatinum star with the release of "Todo Está Cambiando" in 2018.

Her breakthrough came the following year when she was featured on Ed Maverick's "Ropa De Bazar," which has been streamed over 115 million times on Spotify. Aside from collaborating with Cuco, Mon Laferte, Hinds, and Girl Ultra, BRATTY has also remixed Metronomy's "Thinks Will Be Fine." She released her latest song, "Es Mi Fiesta Y Si Quiero Hago Un EP," on January 26, Billboard reported.

CRYS

CRYS, a singer-songwriter of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, debuted in 2018 and has since made significant strides as one of the rising Latin artists in Spanish Christian music.

Her unique music combines synths and electronic rhythms with elements of pop, R&B, and reggaetón for a contemporary Latin flavor. Her bilingual music works deal with universal emotions like love, faith, and positive outlooks.

She has quickly risen to prominence as a promising Christian musician of her generation, thanks to her powerful voice and engaging choreography in her music videos, which have attracted the attention of a younger, global audience.

Her most recent single, "Por ah voy," was released on January 13 and has already amassed over 400,000 YouTube views. She has an upcoming EP called "Negocios," and the title track is a collaboration with Blanca.

Kevin Kaarl

Twenty-two-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter Kevin Kaarl does not hold back in layered folk songs like "Cómo Me Encanta," "Te Quiero Tanto," and "Por Qué No Me Comprendes?" from his upcoming 13-song album "Paris Texas."

He released the Apple Music Home Session: Kevin Kaarl Single on January 30 with two songs - "Por Qué No Me Comprendes?" and the bilingual tune "On My Mood." Both songs were recorded live from the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. 

Kevin Kaarl will perform in 25 cities across the United States this spring, starting in Sacramento, California, on March 4 and ending on May 6 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, putting him on the list of rising Latin artists to look out for this year.
