LeBron James has been trying to get former teammate Kyrie Irving to reunite with him and play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, the now-former Brooklyn Nets star is heading to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster trade.

The 4-time NBA Champion appeared on Michael Wilbon's podcast Monday and talked about the big Kyrie Irving trade and made it known that he was very disappointed, Clutchpoints noted that he and Irving were former teammates back in the Cleveland Cavaliers and even won a title together.

King James may have been disappointed, but the Lakers star says he has now shifted his focus.

"I can't sit here and say I'm not disappointed (at) not being able to land such a talented (player) ... that can help you win championships. ... But my focus has shifted now," he told Wilbon in the podcast.

Los Angeles Lakers Still Scrambling as Trade Deadline Looms

The Lakers currently have one of the worst standings in the NBA this season, and right now, they are still scrambling to get some trades going to upgrade their roster. It seems that they are trying to trade out Russell Westbrook for some big trades or Patrick Beverley for someone smaller.

While the Kyrie Irving trade was a huge disappointment, they are now looking for their "Plan B options" which include the Utah Jazz and the Toronto Raptors. The Athletic reports that they also have other trade options, including the Charlotte Hornets, San Antonio Spurs, and Chicago Bulls.

According to these rumors, with the Jazz, the Lakers might get Mike Conley, while with the Raptors they might get Fred VanVleet. Other names floating around include Terry Rozier of the Hornets, Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott of the Spurs, as well as DeMar DeRozan or Zach LaVine of the Bulls.

The trade deadline is on February 9, and several teams are making some big offers with other teams as it looms over the NBA schedule. However, the Lakers seem to be the team trying to make the most deals at the moment as they may miss the playoffs with their current record.

Brooklyn Nets Governor Did Not Want Kyrie Irving To Go to the Lakers

As the Kyrie Irving trade deal between the Nets and the Mavs has sent the Lakers scrambling for other trades, reports indicated that Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai did not want to send Kyrie Irving to Los Angeles at all, according to Bleacher Report.

Tsai's "presumed objective" was to send Irving to anywhere other than "his preferred destination," which is the Los Angeles Lakers. This ultimately led to the big trade that led to LeBron and Lakers fans everywhere getting one of the most disappointing trade results they were not even involved in.

The Lakers reportedly offered the Nets Russell Westbrook and a first-round pick for Irving. Instead, Brooklyn went with the Mavericks' offer which sent Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2027 and 2029 over to the famous New York borough.
