First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, shared a kiss on the lips at the start of President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Tuesday night, and the moment immediately went viral on social media.

According to the Sun, many netizens were grossed out by the brief kiss between the first lady and the second gentleman. Jill, dressed in a striking purple outfit, was greeted by a standing ovation at the House Chambers.

She was seen on footage shaking hands with people as she walked through the crowded chambers toward Harris' husband, the New York Post reported. The video then shows Emhoff taking Jill's hand, and exchanging brief smiles before the two kissed briefly on the lips.

After the cozy display, the pair continued to hold hands as the first lady positioned herself to stand by Emhoff's side. The president and vice president's spouses sit in a box above the congressional Republicans, together with the president's guests.

In contrast to the netizens' reactions, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris did not seem fazed by the smooch.

Joe Biden's State of the Union Address

Even though Americans feel economic pain under the Democratic administration, Joe Biden bragged about the economy during his second State of the Union address.

"As I stand here tonight, we have created a record 12 million new jobs... more jobs created in two years than any president has ever created in four years," Biden noted.

Biden also slammed the wealthy for not paying their "fair share." The president said: "I'm a capitalist. But just pay your fair share. And I think a lot of you at home agree with me that our present tax system is simply unfair."

Biden also discussed several controversial issues, including police reform, the fentanyl crisis, gun reform, abortion rights, and climate change. Although some issues gained bipartisan support, some Republicans still heckled the president, including Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, who yelled "liar."

In his State of the Union address, Biden called on the Republicans to work with him to finish the job of rebuilding the economy and uniting the nation. Meanwhile, Twitter users also immediately noticed Senator Mike Lee looking confused, which was caught on camera.

"Senator Mike Lee is my spirit animal," a netizen tweeted.
