Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former fixer and personal lawyer, recently spoke with Manhattan prosecutors regarding the newly-revived Stormy Daniels hush money case where the former president paid the former porn star hush money to keep quiet about their affair.

Before the meeting, Cohen spoke to reporters outside Manhattan Supreme Court and said, "I believe that there is a case."

The former Trump attorney also spoke with POLITICO and told them that the prosecutors were serious about the case and that it was "evident by their in-depth knowledge of all the information."

He did not specify what happened during the meeting with prosecutors but did say that another meeting was planned with Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office.

Michael Cohen's Involvement in Donald Trump's Hush Money Payment to Stormy Daniels

The former Trump fixer is one of the most important people in the case and will be testifying for the prosecution in the case against his former boss.

Cohen reportedly played an important role in the hush money payment, as he was the one who reportedly paid the former porn star to stay silent about her affair with Trump as he ran for office back in 2016. He also had a hand in the hush money payment to former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal.

Last week, Manhattan prosecutors took away Cohen's cell phones in order to preserve the evidence related to the hush money payments. Cohen has admitted that DA Bragg's office has asked for the phones as they wanted to extract voice recordings of conversations he had with Stephanie Clifford, who was Stormy Daniels' lawyer at that time, according to PBS News.

"That way it could be used as evidence if in fact they proceed forward, which, I would suspect they are," said Cohen during a recent interview.

Cohen was previously tried and convicted of making these payments, which has led to the souring of relations between him and his former boss, Donald Trump. He pled guilty to tax evasion, lying to Congress, and campaign finance crimes in 2019.

Former Prosecutor Speaks Up About Divisions in the Investigations Vs. Donald Trump

Mark Pomerantz, a former special assistant district attorney who co-led the investigation, is releasing a new book on the case against former President Donald Trump. It showed a division among prosecutors on how best to go after the former president. It is titled "People vs. Donald Trump: An Inside Account."

The hush money case against Trump was rejected by former District Attorney Cy Vance but revived under current District Attorney Alvin Bragg, according to ABC News, and Pomerantz took a swipe at Bragg for not allowing him to move forward with his case.

"I think there was a fear that if you go forward with the case and don't win, you shake public confidence in the legal system," he said.

However, Bragg noted that the case was still not ready and said that the book's publication could hurt the ongoing investigation.

Pomerantz noted, "I didn't write the book to try and help Donald Trump avoid prosecution. The message of the book is the evidence was there."
