The Powerball winning numbers for the jackpot worth an estimated $87 million had been drawn Monday night, but no grand prize winner was announced.

The winning numbers for February 20's drawing were 3, 17, 26, 38, 54, and the Powerball number was 15. The Power Play was 3X. 2UrbanGirls reported that nobody matched all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot, which had a cash option of $44.6 million.

Powerball Jackpot Rises to $100 Million

With no tickets matching all six numbers in Monday night's drawing, the Powerball jackpot reportedly grew to $100 million for Wednesday's drawing. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the odds of winning were a measly one in about 292 million, which means there was a very low chance of winning the top prize.

On Sunday, the California Lottery said a Powerball ticket matched five numbers in Saturday night's drawing. However, there were no tickets sold matching all six numbers that can let a player win $73 million, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The February 18 winning numbers drawn were 8, 21, 31, 32, 37, and the Powerball number was 23. The Powerball winner of about $1.8 million in California had yet to be publicly identified. The ticket was reportedly sold at a Shell gas station in Chula Vista's Eastlake neighborhood.

Manager Ernesto Martinez told the outlet that he checked the drawing results when he started his shift at 6 a.m. Sunday, and he was so happy when he learned the winning ticket was bought in their store.

He said this was "the first time this has happened," and the gas station owner told him that he would divide his share of the winnings with employees.

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chula Vista gas station will get around $9,000 as retailers are awarded half of one percent of the prize for winning tickets in the Powerball with a cap at $1 million.

$2.04 Billion Powerball Jackpot Winner in California Finally Identified

The Powerball winner in California who won the record-setting $2.04 billion jackpot last November was finally identified. California Lottery officials revealed last week that the winner of the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history and the largest ever for Powerball was Edwin Castro.

However, aside from his name, no additional information was released. Lotto officials said Castro, who matched all six numbers in the November 7 Powerball drawing, opted to receive the lump sum payment option of $997.6 million.

In a statement that lottery officials released on his behalf, Castro said he was "shocked" and "ecstatic" over his win on the Powerball lottery. However, he noted that the California public school system was the real winner.

The Powerball jackpot winner noted that the mission of the California Lottery, which is to give supplemental funding for the state's public education, "makes this a huge win for the state."

He added that as someone like him who also received the rewards of being educated in the California public education system, "it's gratifying to hear that, as a result of my win, the California school system greatly benefits as well."

Lottery officials agreed with Castro and said that the state's public schools will reap the benefits, receiving the record-breaking $156 million in proceeds from the November ticket sales.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET. Powerball is being played in 45 states, as well as in Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
