When we talk about Lucha Libre legends, one of the most well-known names is Rey Mysterio. As we head into WrestleMania weekend, the Mexican-American WWE legend is finally being inducted into the Hall of Fame. He is doing it while still being an active wrestler.

Born Oscar Gutierrez, he is the second person to don the Rey Mysterio mask and name, inheriting it from his uncle, the original Rey Mysterio, who has thrilled audiences around North America.

Since he was the second person to don the mask and name, he started out being called Rey Mysterio Jr., with his uncle being known as Rey Mysterio Sr.

He made his debut at age 14 in the independent circuit before finally making it to the big Mexican leagues, including Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion (AAA), in 1992, according to First Sportz.

Rey Mysterio Makes a Big Impact in WCW and WWE

The lucha libre sensation became more known to wider audiences when Rey Mysterio signed with World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

There, he won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship five times, making the title more prestigious with his matches with other WCW cruiserweight legends.

Mysterio had several classic matches during his time with the Ted Turner-owned company, including those against Eddie Guerrero, Juventud Guerrera, Chris Jericho, and Dean Malenko. He even defeated Kevin Nash at one point.

After WWE bought WCW and won the Monday Night Wars, Mysterio briefly signed with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. However, in 2002, WWE came calling, and he experienced his biggest success.

Soon, the luchador became a household name as he won more accolades in the company. Mysterio became part of the "Smackdown 6" and won the Cruiserweight title several times during his stint there.

He also won tag-team gold, but his biggest accolades came after the death of Eddie Guerrero. That includes winning the Royal Rumble and beating Kurt Angle and Randy Orton to capture the World Heavyweight Championship in WrestleMania.

Already a multi-time world champion, Mysterio left the company in 2015 and had stints in other promotions like NJPW and Lucha Underground.

However, he soon returned to WWE and even won the tag titles with his son, Dominik Mysterio, making them the first father-son tag champions in WWE history.

Now, he is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and will be facing his son, Ex-Con Dom, at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.

Rey Mysterio Net Worth

As the WWE legend heads to the Hall of Fame, Mysterio reportedly has a net worth of $10 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.  Most of his money comes from an annual salary of $174,000 and various endorsements.

Spokrtskeeda reported that in addition to his annual salary and various endorsements, Rey Mysterio also makes money from WWE merchandise sales as he has a cut in mask and T-shirt sales. He also has a house in Chula Vista, California, worth around $1.08 million.

However, Mysterio is not shy about loving fast cars. He owns several high-end luxury vehicles and sports cars, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Mclaren 12C, and a Jaguar XKR.
