Two teenagers were injured and at least one onlooker was battered when a massive mob of violent Chicago teens clashed with police Saturday night near downtown Millennium Park, the NY Post reported.

Police were called to help evacuate tourists after an unruly mob set fire to automobiles, smashed windshields, and attacked at least one motorist.

Two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were shot by a man in the mob, Chicago police said.

The incident occurred just one day after another incident of teen violence at 31st Avenue Beach, during which a 14-year-old kid was shot, and the police reported one arrest.

Social media posts called for a gathering near Millenium Park on Saturday night, and hundreds, if not thousands, of teenagers, converged on the Chicago Loop at about 9 p.m.

Several minors reportedly attempted to enter the park despite checkpoints denying entry to anyone under 21 who was not with an adult.

A woman whose vehicle was attacked by a mob said her husband had been battered in the passenger seat and was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The two teens shot during the chaos were also taken to the hospital and reported to be in fair condition.

Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson Issues Statement Following Chicago Teens Violent Clash

Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson released statements about the violence and disorder that broke out in the city center throughout the weekend, NBC Chicago noted.

While hundreds, or perhaps even more than a thousand Chicago teens, gathered around Millennium Park late Saturday night, some of whom engaged in "reckless and disruptive behavior." Chicago police said that a total of 15 individuals, nine adults and six children, were detained.

"In no way do I condone the destructive activity we saw in the Loop and lakefront this weekend," Johnson's statement read. "It is unacceptable and has no place in our city."

"However, it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their communities," the statement continued, adding that the city must work together to give the Chicago teens space to gather safely and responsibly.

Chicago Teens Rampages Has Been the City's Problem for Years

The influx of disruptive Chicago teens into public spaces every spring has been a headache for locals and law enforcement for years, according to Fox 32.

Millennium Park instituted its curfew in May 2022, requiring all minors (those under 18) to be accompanied by an adult.

Then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot instituted the curfew the day after a 16-year-old was shot and murdered in front of the iconic Bean.

Twenty-six minors and four adults were taken into custody that night, and seven guns were recovered.

Curfew infractions resulted in six more people being warned and two police officers hurt.

Thirty-one Chicago teens were arrested in April 2019 for "wilding" along the Mag Mile. Visitors fled in terror as a massive battle broke out in Millennium Park, with police reporting that adolescents had stolen wallets, phones, and products from nearby stores.

Then, hundreds of teens descended downtown in May of 2021, blowing off fireworks, jumping on police cars, and fighting. Two police officers were hurt.

Ten juveniles were apprehended in April 2022 after running into Millennium Park and climbing over barricades. Another eight people were issued citations for violating the curfew.

Lightfoot, now the outgoing mayor, made a statement on Sunday in response to the recent incidents with the Chicago teens. She emphasized that good behavior begins at home.

"We as a city cannot and will not allow any of our public spaces to become a platform for criminal conduct," Lightfoot stated. "Most importantly, parents and guardians must know where their children are and be responsible for their actions. Instilling the important values of respect for people and property must begin at home."
