Fox News has finally settled with Dominion Voting Systems over the latter's 1.6-billion-dollar lawsuit. The conservative network must now pay a $787.5 Million settlement over its 2020 election lies.

According to the New York Times, Fox News knowingly spread false information, with its hosts and executives acknowledging in private that the conspiracy theories they pushed were lies, even thinking Donald Trump's lawyers were crazy. Dominion was often the target of these false claims, and the voting machine company filed a $1.6 billion lawsuit against the network.

If the trial went through and Fox News did not settle, it would have been a landmark trial, as it would have had implications on how news gets reported. The settlement was reached in the last minute before the trial, with Dominion lawyer Justin Nelson confirming the $787.5 million settlement from Fox.

However, the settlement is still historic, as the deal is one of the largest defamation settlements in U.S. history. Some of the terms of the settlement have not yet been revealed, but it showed that Fox News will not have to apologize or admit to spreading false claims on network programming.

The Guardian reported that Fox News hosts won't have to admi to lying to its viewers, or directly take accountability for spreading false information.

Dominion and Fox News Still Have Cases to Resolve After Lawsuit

However, after the Fox News and Dominion Lawsuit's settlement, Dominion still has more election denials to go after, as they still have defamation suits against Fox competitors Newsmax and OAN. It also has lawsuits against MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, as well as Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani.

As for Fox News, it is still facing a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit from voting machine company Smartmatic for the same reasons as Dominion, as Fox News hosts and guests have repeatedly spread false claims that the company is connected with the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, and that the company helped Joe Biden win the 2020 presidential elections by stealing votes from Donald Trump.

How Fox News Reported the Lawsuit Settlement With Dominion

On Tuesday, after the settlement had been reached, Fox News released a statement saying, "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects FOX's continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues."

The network reported in its official website that Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis praised both sides for reaching a settlement, with the network acknowledging that their guests lied writing in their report, "Then-President Donald Trump and his allies fiercely challenged Joe Biden's victory in the weeks following the election. Some of them, including members of his legal team, made false and unsubstantiated claims against Dominion Voting Systems and are the subject of separate defamation lawsuits."

However, Fox News did not mention that its hosts, including Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and Maria Bartiromo, knowingly lied to its viewers. It did not acknowledge the private messages that were presented as evidence, as well as the damage it has done.
